• Vasco was born in 1460
• He was not born in a hospital he was born right
  in his house
  
• Vasco was born in Sines, Portugal

His life before an explorer

• His grew up in Portugal
• He was born to a noble family
• As a kid they had to make up their own games

What did Vasco da Gama do?

• He sailed from Portugal all the way around Africa
  to India
  
• Vasco was looking for spices and other goods
• He made two trips to India

Was there anything bad that happened?

• He almost got caught in a wrong area
• Some of his crew happened to die of scurvy (a
  disease caused by lack of vitamin C)
  
• On his second trip he got robbed

When he died

• Vasco da Gama died on December 24th, 1524
• Vasco died of an illness in India
• His remains were returned to Portugal for burial

Where did he get his ideas from?

• Vasco mostly got his ideas because his dad sailed
  before him as an explorer
  
• He wanted to help people and find a route to
  India
  
• He was commissioned by King Manuel to find
  Christian lands in the East

We will always remember you Vasco da Gama, Sailor
of the Seas!

• His most vital remembrance was he discovered that
  there was an ocean route from Portugal to the
  east, arriving May 20th,1498. This opened a
  major trade route from Western Europe to India.
• In 1502-1503 he was sent to India by King Manuel
  I of Portugal this second trip Vasco slayed
  hundreds of Muslims often brutally in order to
  demonstrate his power.
• After King Manuels death King John III sent da
  Gama to India as a Portuguese vicerory (the
  Kings representative in India)
