Why are we talking?

• In FY 07 we had 41 Soldiers die in motorcycle
  accidents
• In FY 08 we had 50 Soldier die in motorcycle
  accidents
• The fatality rate is climbing

Guidelines

• Motorcycle Safety Foundation Recommended
  Criteria
• Basic Rider Course BRC
• Experienced Rider Course ERC
• DODI 6055.4
• AR 385-10

Protective Equipment

• Helmet properly worn and fastened meeting DOT
  standard
• Eye protection not prescription or sunglasses
• Long sleeve shirt or jacket
• Highly visible reflective upper garment belt or
  vest

• Full fingered gloves
• Full length trousers
• Over the ankle footwear
• Headlights will be turned on at all times

Who Must Be Trained?

• Active duty military always and civilian
  personnel (in duty status) operating
  motorcycles, motor scooters or mopeds on DoD
  installations
