History
  • Portugals monarchy was over thrown in 1910 and a
    republic was established.
  • Politics power was unstable until 1985 elections
    when Mario was elected President.
  • Portugal was the first country to use euro for
    currency.
  • In 1999 they gave Macau back to China ending its
    over sea empire.

Holidays
  • Corpis Christe is in June
  • They celebrate all Christian holidays (Easter and
    Christmas).
  • All saints day is November first its a holiday
    made to honor the dead. They place flowers on
    relatives graves.
  • Portuguese independence day is December first.

Food and Dinning
  • Food includes cheese, meat, fruits, vegetables,
    bread, and fish.
  • The national dish is baslainua a salted cod.
  • Breakfast is coffee or milk with a sandwich or
    toast.
  • The biggest meal is lunch eaten at one p.m.
  • At four p.m. they have a snack and coffee break

  • At 800 or 900 they eat dinner a salad or soup

    common forms of transportation.

    communications.
  • Kids either walk or have there parents drive them
    to school.

  • Portugal is 35,675 miles squared.
  • Along the coast and has some hills and valleys.
  • Only a 4th of the land is good for farming.
  • Its only neighboring county is Spain.
