Rules for constructing a graph
  • Graph paper should always be used
  • Each box should represent the same increment or
    value
  • The scales on each axis should be spaced apart as
    far as possible
  • While still providing space for all data points
    to be graphed
  • A line of best fit should be used to summarize
    data
  • If more than one set of data is shown, then a
    legend should be provided

  • Graphs are constructed to illustrate the
    relationships between variables.
  • From a graph you should be able to state a
    general trend between variables.
  • You should be able to interpolate other data
    points using the line of best fit.
  • You should also be able to extrapolate data that
    is not shown by extending the line of best fit.
