The conference started with the introduction of
Arun Gandhi, founder of M.K. Gandhi Institute of

Mahatma K. Gandhi. Mr. Gandhi described the
concept of nonviolence as a way of life. He gave

nonviolence in his everyday life. As a teenager
growing up in South Africa, Mr. Gandhi
experienced racism from both blacks and whites
and endured both emotional and physical attacks.
He developed an extreme interest in physical
fitness and strength building. His parents became
concern for his son and they were motivated to
send him to live with his grandfather in India.
With his grandfather, he learned the power of
nonviolent protest and awareness of social
reform. Continuegtgtgtgt
After his presentation, the audience asked
several questions such as Why does nonviolence
seem so difficult to practice? Is it possible to
create a perfectly peaceful society? Mr. Gandhi
explained that to practice nonviolence, we must
developed a rational thinking that follow this
principles Respect, Understanding, Acceptance
and Appreciation. He expressed that we must take
others in consideration and not seek our own
advantage in each relationship. Mr. Gandhi has
taken a personal commitment to foster a
widespread understanding of principles of
nonviolence through workshops, lectures and
community outreach programs. He also continues to
be a spokesman for the uniquely insights on the
