History

• Lifesavers were created in 1912 by Clarence
  Crane.
• She had an idea but no machinery. She used a pill
  machine. Machine malfunctioned and put a hole in
  the middle.

How and Why

• Crane was looking for a new summer candy.
• Called Lifesavers because they look like mini
  life preservers.
• The candies were wrapped in tinfoil to prevent
  going stale. This was done by hand until 1919
  when a machine was created. 1925 tinfoil was
  replaced with aluminum foil.

My Personal Opinion
Lifesavers are one of my favorite candy. I really
like the Sour Lifesavers Gummies. My favorite
flavor is cherry. I really liked getting the
candy Lifesavers for my project. It was fun! I
found a lot of information.
