  • Using the Library Website
  • Using the Card Catalog

Introduction
  • This tutorial is designed to introduce you to the
    basic aspects of the Media Center website at
    Hillsdale and also show you how to search for
    materials online using the card catalog!
  • Be sure to check out each hyperlink when you come
    to it in a slide!

Library Website
The Library Website is the homepage for computers
in the Media Center. You can locate it from home
at http//www.hillsdale.k12.oh.us/hhs/library

Webmail
  • Webmail
  • Located at www.tccsa.net
  • You can obtain an email account from Mrs. Stump.
    This is available online, anywhere you have an
    Internet connection!

Obtaining an email account
  • Simply see Mrs. Stump and let her know you need
    an account
  • Your username will be HI_some number
  • Your password will be temporary and then you
    will need to change it the first time you log on
    to one with at least 6 characters

  • Change your password from the pull-down tab under
    Go to
  • Be sure to mark the student button before you
    choose Log-In

Email Addresses
  • If someone wants to email you, your address is
  • HI_(your number)_at_mail.tccsa.net
  • If you want to access your account, you visit
    http//www.tccsa.net

Cautions when using email
  • Remember that your account is through the school
    and should contain appropriate content must
    follow Acceptable Use Policy!
  • Accounts are NOT secure and can be accessed by
    the email administrators
  • Do NOT abuse the privilege of email it exists
    primarily to assist in educational endeavors
    such as receiving college application
    information, etc.

Card Catalogs
  • You can locate materials from the Elementary,
    Middle School, or High School
  • You can also find information from Ashland,
    Holmes, or Wayne County Public Libraries.

School Card Catalogs
  • After you select Card Catalogs, choose the
    building you wish to search for materials from

Select the High School
  • Once youve chosen a building, youll see the
    INFOhio CAT (for catalog). The big cat will give
    more complicated searches, the cat jr. is for
    elementary students.

Performing a Search
  • Searches automatically are performed for all
    fields including author, title, subject, and
    series. You can look more specifically, but
    searching all fields will give the most results.

Results of searching
  • Lets say you search for romeo here are the
    results 8 total hits in the High School
    Library.
  • You can find the type of material (book, movie,
    etc.), status whether its available or not,
    and the call number (where its located in the
    Library).

Finding Items in Other Libraries
  • From the search box, select the More
    Libraries tab and you can find materials in any
    of these locations!

Looking for Items in Public Libraries
  • Locate materials from Ashland, Holmes, or Wayne
    County Public Libraries from the Card Catalog
    tab.
  • Hillsdale has
  • a co-op with Ashland Public Library

Co-op with Ashland Public Library
  • If you would like a book from this building,
    check the online card catalog.
  • Complete the request card (located in the
    Hillsdale Media Center)
  • The materials will be checked out to you under
    your Ashland Public Library card all terms of
    agreement, fines, fees, etc. apply
  • The material will come to you on the next
    Bookmobile stop (every other Wed. to the
    Elementary, every other Mon. to the Middle
    School)
  • You can return items to the High School library,
    but be sure they will be received in time to make
    the next Bookmobile stop for Hillsdale before
    their due date!

  • You may also look under each specific Tab for
    help with individual academic disciplines.
  • If you need some websites for a specific topic in
    one of your classes, check here! If you dont
    find what youre looking for, let Mrs. Stump
    know what you need and a list of sites will soon
    appear here to help you!

  • This segment of the Media Center website is
    designed to help you locate information quickly.
    Each site is a good source for information on a
    wide variety of topics.
  • Use these sites to locate general info and the
    tabs on the side for more specific links.
