PRESENTAZIONE GENERALE
Nel panorama delle iniziative e dei cambiamenti
che hanno riguardato il campo dellistruzione
negli ultimi anni, lambito disciplinare delle
lingue straniere è stato, certamente, tra i
più interessati anche se, in particolare nella
scuola secondaria, travagliato. Dopo aver
vissuto, infatti, in occasione della costituzione
della Unione Europea, gli entusiasmi alimentati
dalla spinta propulsiva verso la ricerca, la
progettazione e la sperimentazione di nuovi
percorsi didattico-educativo-formativi
finalizzati allincentivazione allapprendimento
delle lingue straniere ed allacquisizione di una
competenza linguistico-comunicativa (Lingua
2000), vi è stata, almeno per quanto riguarda il
nostro Paese, una battuta darresto che ha,
prevalentemente, interessato linsegnamento della
lingua inglese nella scuola media inferiore.

PRESENTAZIONE GENERALE

• Ciò, come detto, in controtendenza rispetto alle
  spinte che sono pervenute e pervengono dalla
  Commissione Europea a supporto della crescita di
  una integrazione e identità comunitaria.
• In questo excursus, la Scuola Media Ugo Foscolo
  si segnala tra quelle che hanno risposto
  tempestivamente ai molteplici mutamenti
  programmatici che si sono succeduti in questi
  anni istituendo, ad esempio, la figura di un
  docente responsabile dellarea progettuale che è
  andato ad affiancarsi al coordinatore della
  disciplina.
• La particolare sensibilità verso lo studio delle
  lingue straniere, attestata, tra laltro, dalla
  presenza di un laboratorio linguistico, oltre che
  di uno multimediale, ha permesso di rispondere in
  maniera incisiva alle diverse linee di
  orientamento metodologico-didattico valorizzando
  limportanza della dimensione progettuale sia in
  ambito curricolare che extra-curricolare come
  attività integrativa dellofferta formativa.

PRESENTAZIONE GENERALE

• Le iniziative promosse in questi anni hanno avuto
  la finalità generale, quindi, di migliorare
  lattività didattica dellinsegnamento delle
  lingue straniere, concretizzandosi in progetti
  totalmente centrati sullalunno e basati sulla
  considerazione che la libertà da vincoli e
  restrizioni programmatiche, che è alla base di
  attività progettuali ed integrative - in
  particolare se sviluppate nellambito di classi
  aperte - può dar vita ad unesperienza didattica
  stimolante, creativa, motivante e coinvolgente,
  per qualsiasi tipo di platea scolastica, facendo
  registrare al docente ricadute socio-educative
  particolarmente positive e gratificanti.
• In tale ottica i progetti sono stati
  prevalentemente organizzati su percorsi di tipo
  modulare, secondo una strategia didattica basata
  su un insegnamento flessibile e personalizzato
  teso a stimolare lo studente ad un apprendimento
  gradualmente più consapevole e autonomo e teso al
  problem solving.

PRESENTAZIONE GENERALE

• Dal punto di vista strettamente linguistico è
  stato valorizzato il fatto che luso di linguaggi
  specifici nellambito delle attività progettuali
  consente di consolidare e potenziare le
  competenze linguistiche acquisite in ambito
  curricolare secondo i parametri indicati dal
  framework europeo.
• Data la particolare eterogeneità del bacino di
  utenza della scuola, si sono utilizzate
  metodologie non convenzionali, incentrate, in
  particolare, sulla valorizzazione dei linguaggi
  multimediali ed iconografici dal disegno, alla
  fotografia, alla grafica accanto a quelli
  strettamente linguistici. Rilevante è stata anche
  lattenzione posta sulla dimensione musicale che,
  nel caso della lingua inglese, costituisce sempre
  un elemento di forte coinvolgimento per gli
  allievi.
• Sotto il profilo contenutistico, infine, si sono
  prevalentemente privilegiati temi legati
  allattualità.

PRESENTAZIONE GENERALE

• Tenendo conto che questo ciclo quinquennale ha
  avuto inizio con lattentato alle Twin Towers e
  che è stato di lì accompagnato da eventi
  socio-politici di forte impatto emotivo anche sui
  più giovani, il leit motiv che ha fatto da filo
  conduttore allintera attività didattica di
  questi anni è stato improntato ai valori della
  Pace, della Solidarietà, della Difesa dei Diritti
  Umani. Non a caso il lavoro conclusivo si è
  concretizzato in un rapporto di intensa e
  proficua collaborazione con lAssociazione E. I.
  P (Scuola Strumento di Pace).

Pur nella loro specificità didattica i progetti
sono stati realizzati rispettando alcune
importanti finalità, obiettivi e metodologie
trasversali, come

• Ampliamento degli orizzonti culturali attraverso
  la conoscenza della civiltà e della cultura di
  altri popoli.
• Educazione alla convivenza civile ed acquisizione
  di un atteggiamento di apertura e condivisione
  nei confronti di culture altre.
• Maturazione e sviluppo armonico della personalità
  attraverso lacquisizione di conoscenze, abilità,
  competenze e di un metodo di studio autonomo.
• Sviluppo della capacità di socializzazione e di
  interazione nellambito di attività a classi
  aperte.
• Incremento delle capacità espressivo-comunicative
  attraverso una lingua diversa dalla propria.

• Sviluppo delle competenze comunicative di
  ricezione ,interazione e produzione orali e
  scritte in L2 rispondenti ai livelli del
  Framework europeo.
• Approccio didattico pluri/interdisciplinare nel
  quale la lingua inglese viene riconosciuta come
  lingua veicolare per spaziare in più ambiti della
  conoscenza (lingua come mezzo).
• Consapevolezza che luso di linguaggi specifici
  incontrati in ambito progettuale consente di
  consolidare e potenziare le competenze
  linguistiche acquisite in ambito curricolare
  (lingua come fine).
• Valorizzazione di metodologie basate
  sullutilizzo delle nuove tecnologie e dei
  linguaggi multimediali nella didattica delle
  lingue straniere.

• Approccio non convenzionale allo studio della
  lingua, basato essenzialmente sullutilizzo di
  sussidi audiovisivi e multimediali.
• Stimolo alla creatività con la manipolazione di
  immagini e testi estrapolati dai cartoons per
  lideazione, la progettazione, la realizzazione
  di strisce di fumetti.
• Spazio musicale ascolto e ripetizione di colonne
  sonore e ritornelli dei cartoons Tematica
  prescelta Disneys World.
• TIPO DI PROGETTO
• Extracurricolare.
• DESTINATARI
• Allievi delle prime classi. Ladesione al corso
  di tipo opzionale, rivolto ad alunni in entrata
  nella scuola media, non ha richiesto alcun
  livello di competenza di base in lingua inglese.
  È stata pertanto sperimentata unattività
  didattica a classe aperta con allievi molto
  eterogenei sia dal punto di vista del background
  socio-culturale che cognitivo.

• Il corso è stato portato a termine da 24 dei 26
  alunni iscritti facendo registrare un risultato
  più che soddisfacente sia dal punto di vista
  degli obiettivi comportamentali che didattici. I

  mostra di fine anno. Agli allievi è stato
  rilasciato un attestato di partecipazione da
  inserire nel portofolio personale.

RISULTATI Il progetto, svolto in orario
curricolare, ha impegnato quattro classi, anche
se con diversa intensità, essendo fortemente
eterogeneo sia il background socio-culturale che
il livello di preparazione di base degli
allievi. Costruita su una documentazione
fotografica raccolta prevalentemente dalla
docente nel corso di un attento lavoro di ricerca
svolto nel tempo, lattività ha suscitato
linteresse di tutti gli allievi, dimostrando
come tematiche coinvolgenti poste con metodologie
e tecniche didattiche innovative e diverse
facciano presa anche e, forse soprattutto, su
alunni di solito meno motivati e partecipi,
consentendo lacquisizione di competenze
linguistiche in maniera più spontanea e diretta.

SLAVES AFRICA To this day, selling of humans
still goes on. In particular, women are subjected
to this barbaric custom being sold by their
families for a handful of coins. BRIDES OF THE
DESERT A girl gets ready for her wedding
according to the customs of her people. MASAI
GIRLS AFRICA Some girls wear their traditional
clothes of the Masai tribe. CAMBODIAN WOMAN
CAMBODIA A woman with her child she is wearing
a head and face cover made up by a blue
net. LONG-NECK KAREN TRIBE THAILAND In order
to keep the tourists coming, the tribes continue
to make their women wear steel rings around their
necks for stretching. Originally, this custom was
an expression of beauty and social status. Today
its only an horrible custom.

order to stop the spreading of diseases such as
AIDS, this tribes girls undergo controls by the
old women of the village and receive their
certificate proving their physical condition of
virginity.
