To be innovative, an organisation needs to
explore, extend and leverage the potential
benefits embedded in an idea that is new. The
idea may be one that is extremely creative but it
can also simply be that is unique in a particular
environment or application.

Innovation does not have to turn the world on its
head to make a significant impact innovation
can also be just a small idea with big potential.
The key is, that if there are enough of these
innovation, they can drive the organisation
forward into an exciting and expansive new future.

Its important to note that Innovation is
different from invention. An inventor discovers
something and feels satisfied. An innovator
within an organization may champion his or her
own idea or an idea that a colleague has
developed, and will not be satisfied until change
has taken place and substantial benefits are
gained.

Innovation is all about the leverage of selected
ideas where the value added exceeds the costs
incurred. Successful innovation management within
an organisation means finding more and better
ideas than your competitors and then aligning
them with your strategy, and utilising them for
greater advantage.
