PowerPoint Photo Albums
  • Efficient
  • Quickly drop groups of pictures into PowerPoint
  • Use design templates to unify and jazz up your
    presentation
  • Configurable
  • Add titles and text if you wish
  • Change design elements with a couple of clicks
  • Add, delete and move pictures slides easily

Preparing
  • Put pictures in the same folder
  • Know where to find the folder!
  • Ideal
  • Pix have descriptive titles
  • Pix same shape
  • Pix same size (roughly)
  • Dont worry about arranging pix
  • Easy to arrange inside PowerPoint
  • Your camera
  • Pix on CD or flash drive work fine

Open a New Presentation
  • Office Button ? New(Presentation)
  • Then click Blank Presentation
  • In the lower right corner of the screen -Click
    the Create button

Insert a Photo Album
  • Click the Insert tab to bring it forward
  • Click Photo Album
  • The Photo Album Window appears
  • Click the File/Diskbutton
  • The Insert New Pictures windowappears

Insert New Pictures
  • Navigate to your pictures
  • Click an icon on the left, or
  • Click the down arrow (triangle) at the right of
    the Look in box
  • Tip
  • If your pix are on a Flash or CD drive, click My
    Computer (on the left) to see the drive
  • Then click the drive to see its contents

Select the pix for your show
  • First Click Inside the picture folder
  • Select all Ctrl A
  • OrHold downCtrl and click each picture you
    want to select
  • Then Click the Insert button

Optional View Thumbnails
  • To see small previews of pix
  • Click down-arrow by View icon
  • Choose Thumbnails

  • Arrange, flip, adjust pix and layout here

  • To say more about your pictures, set up Captions
  • Add caption comments on some or all pix

  • Backgrounds or Themes
  • Click the down arrow (triangle) at the right of
    the Themes box to see all
  • Preview Your slides change as you cursor over
    Backgrounds or Designs
  • Click a Theme to apply it to your presentation

  • On the Design tab
  • Click Fonts
  • Cursor over font sets to preview on your slides
  • Click away to keep fonts as they are
  • Click a font set to apply it to your presentation

  • Dont forget to save your work
  • Tweak individual slides
  • To view your show
  • With your presentation openin PowerPoint
  • Click the View tab ? Slide Show icon(or press
    F5)

  • Move slides in Normal View
  • Click the slide you want to moveOr
  • Control-click a bunch of slides
  • Hold the mouse button down and drag to new
    location
  • Release and they are moved!

  • Displays slide thumbnails on rectangular grid

    location between two slides

  • Use Tables, not charts
  • Add Alt text to images

Adding Alt text
  • Right-click a picture
  • On the popup menu, click Size and Position
  • On the next window, click the Alt Text tab
  • Enter a brief description
  • Click Close

Why Compress Pictures?
  • Pix from your camera may be huge in both
  • Dimensions
  • File size
  • PowerPoint automatically changes dimensions to
    fit slides
  • PowerPoint doesnt change the space each picture
    takes up when you save to disk
  • Unless you tell it to

Using Picture Tools
  • Click to select any picture
  • The Picture Tools tab appears above regular tabs
  • Click Picture Tools
  • On the left, click Compress Pictures

Compressing Pictures
  • On the Compress Pictures window, click Options.
  • In Compression Settings
  • Click the first two boxes
  • 96 ppi smallest files for uploading, good
    onscreen look
  • 150 ppi Screen andprint quality - much larger
    files
  • 220 Full-size printed color slides only
