Title: ANGRY WORDS

1
ANGRY WORDS
  • Love one another

2
COL 316
  • Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you
teach and admonish one another with all wisdom,
and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
with gratitude in your hearts to God.
  • NIV

3
Angry Words verse 1
  • Angry words! O let them never From the tongue
unbridled slip May the hearts best impulse ever
Check them ere they soil the lip.

4
The tongue is powerful!
  • James 3 2-5
  • 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never
at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man,
able to keep his whole body in check.
  • 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to
make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.
4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are
so large and are driven by strong winds, they are
steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot
wants to go. 5 Likewise the tongue is a small
part of the body, but it makes great boasts.
Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a
    small spark.
  • NIV

5
THE INNER MAN
  • Matt 1234-35
  • 34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil
say anything good? For out of the overflow of the
heart the mouth speaks. 35 The good man brings
good things out of the good stored up in him, and
the evil man brings evil things out of the evil
    stored up in him.
  • NIV

6
The Power to do Good or Evil
  • Prov 151-2
  • A gentle answer turns away wrath,
  • but a harsh word stirs up anger.
  • The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but
the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
  • NIV

7
Angry Words Verse 3
  • Angry words are lightly spoken, bitterest
thoughts are rashly stirred, brightest links of
life are broken, by a single angry word.

8
The Advantages of restraint
  • Prov 1019-21
  • 19 When words are many, sin is not absent,
  • but he who holds his tongue is wise.
  • 20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
  • but the heart of the wicked is of little
    value.
  • NIV

9
Silence is Golden
  • Prov 2123
  • He who guards his mouth and his tongue, keeps
    himself from calamity. (troubles NKJ)
  • Prov 1727-28
  • A man of knowledge uses words with restraint,
  • and a man of understanding is even-tempered.
  • Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent,
  • and discerning if he holds his tongue.
  • NIV

10
How shall we use the Tongue?
  • Prov 1624
  • Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the
soul and healing to the bones.
  • Prov 2511
  • A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in
    setting of silver.

11
Beware of Evil Words
  • Matthew 1236-37
  • But I tell you that men will have to give account
on the day of judgment for every careless word
they have spoken. For by your words you will be
acquitted, and by your words you will be
    condemned."

12

    too sacred far, For a
  • moments reckless folly Thus to
  • desolate and mar.

this all men will know that you are my disciples,
    if you love one another."

16
Qualities of Agape Love
  • I Cor. 13 4-8
  • Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,
it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not
rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily
angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does
not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes,
    always perseveres.
  • Love never fails.

17
CONCLUSION
  • Friendship is too holy to let loose WORDS in
    reckless moments destroy it
  • Angry or hurtful WORDS should never
  • destroy our relationship we have in Christ.
  • Love one another, thus says the Savior
