Title: AgingContamination Task Group Status

1
  • Aging/Contamination Task Group Status
  • Discussed Contamination Survey Results
  • Age of Airplane? Original intent was general
survey to validate types of contamination to
    implement some controlled tested.
  • Results are believed to align with Aging Wiring
task group results. Will contact Aging Wiring
group for data samples will be and photos of
in-service locations of areas that accumulate
dust/lint. Determine if testing was done with
    various levels of dust/lint/contamination.
  • Revise survey form to be specific about
locations. Consider a web-based survey form.
Align this survey with request for general
in-service blanket samples across the fleet.
These blankets will define the as-is condition of
    blankets contamination level, thermal/analytical
    testing, and flammability properties. Results
will be compared to lab tests on various levels
    of contamination types.

  • Contamination Survey Results (continued)
  • Generally agreed with the priority of
    contamination types dust/lint, CIC's, and
fluids. CIC's will be easiest to start some
controlled tests on different products. Boeing
Airbus will define the list of CIC's and that
have been used and define a proposed test plan to
run some tests. Airlines will define what CIC
    products that have used.
  • Dick Hill discussed some specific incidents that
had very specific fire fuel sources isopropyl
alcohol, etc illustrating that fluids and the
processes used by airlines will be difficult to
    define common items.
  • Airlines will initially identify the common
cleaning solvents that are used during
    maintenance.

  • Aging/Contamination Task Group Status
  • Contamination Survey Results (continued)
  • In the future need to look at other types of
    contamination such as insecticides and
    disinfectants (SARs).
  • Quickest Completed Action Item Award
  • Before the working meeting was over!

  • Aging/Contamination Task Group Status
  • Discussed In-service Blanket Sample Collection
  • Agreed to have OEMs define very specific
    locations, Airlines identify heavy maintenance
schedules 2 3 months in the future, so
    replacements blankets can be fabricated.
  • Breif Discussion on next material/part types to
    evaluate
  • from an aging/contamination effect.
  • Align with Hidden Materials task group.
  • Determine if a data driven approach can be
used by reviewing in-service events and fire
    event participators.
