Bio
SLAVERY is a quintet that plays a unique kind of
metalcore. Throughout the years, the band has
kept on expressing its brand new chaotic vision
of aggression by fusing the best of old school
metal and hardcore bands into an outburst of
raging fury and stunning brutality and
established itself as one of the finest and most
promising local underground act. SLAVERY came to
existence in Paris during the year 1996. In the
beginning of 1997 the band started playing with a
full line-up and recorded its first demo in April
1998, released as a featuring on the Paris
Rising compilation amongst other local acts such
as Knockoutz, In greed, Vile, Crossbreed In
1999, after a few local shows, the band went
through a major line-up change with the arrival
of new bass player , new drummer and new singer
during the summer. In September 1999, SLAVERY
started playing more shows in Paris and north of
France and eventually entered the studio in
june 2000 and recorded its debut MCD entitled TO
SEDATE AGONY released on the bands own label
MISERERECHORDS in October. The
beginning of 2002 took things to a faster pace.
The band played more shows across France and kept
on spreading its intense and abrasive mixture of
brutal metal intensity and raging hardcore
grooves through devastating live acts. In the end
of the year, the band encountered it's second
major line-up change with the departure of
Raphaël and Cyril, quickly replaced by Cénéric
from RIGOR MORTYS on vocals and the return of
Nebojsa (SLAVERY's first drummer!!!) on bass
which has always been his original instrument at
the time.
Enjoying really enthusiastic reviews in both
alternative and national press, the release of
this new effort allowed the band to play more
often and hit new areas like Belgium or south of
France. In the summer, after the arrival of a new
bass player, SLAVERY appeared at the SUPERBOWL OF
HARDCORE 2001 along with major French and
European underground metal and hardcore acts.

Feedback
Rocksound (Fr) Repéré l'an passé sur la compile
parisien "Our glass" et "Butchered Be The
Sluttish" cultivent le climat haineux du NYHC
qu'il accentue plus profondément encore. Un thème
récurrent chez Kickback, All Out War, Overcast ou
des combos d'obédience plus death floridien.
L'interprétation reste fidèle aux lois du genre
vocaux hurlés jusqu'à l'épuisement, mur rythmique
d'une épaisseur de cinq bons mètres, doubles
riffs massifs, mosh part, etc. Le son est
incroyable (une preuve qu'il n'y a pas besoin de
traverser l'Atlantique pour s'offrir le son
désiré) , la production semble convenir
idéalement au style pratiqué... "To Sedate Agony"
affiche tout ce que l'on demande à un disque de
hardcore-metal. Chapeau et bon courage pour la
suite ! Silent Scream (It)  With this Mini Cd
"To Sedate Agony" we encounter a band with huge
potentialities and with wide improvement margins
yeah, the sound these french offer is dynamic and
involving and then, their death metal is filled
up with wickedness a sound commixtion that does
not renounce to the death thrash of the never
little regretted At the Gates or to the
monolithical power of Morbid Angel or to the
sudden tempo changes that made great a
masterpiece like "Heartwork" (Carcass of course).
All, greatly, assembled with modern metal core
components and sick flashes of unsane bloody
musical claustrophobia. "Our Glass" and
"Butchered be the Sluttish" make things clear
immediately, offering us technical passages and
heavy solutions, fast rhythmics and a desperate
screaming. The members proofs are excellent (the
guitar does not disappoint our expectations and
Pierre Yves's furious drumming enriches the final
result), and the outcome is exceptionally
disrupting. The five tracks of "To Sedate Agony"
are all of high manufacture, their quality level
untouchable and the force of songs like "Firefly"
or "Quenchless Waste" merciless. Middle way
between the modern and the past, Slavery set a
nice teeth blow to every lover of evolved death
metal. Good listening.

Feedback
Total Fucking Oblivion (usa) Holy fucking
shit... brutal, extreme as fuck metalcore from
Paris, france heavily influenced by deathmetal,
this shit is fucking killer, you have to listen
to SLAVERY right now...If you don't I'll break
your fucking neck. Enough said. Hardcore Times
(Ire)   Slavery hail from France, so you know
they're going to be heavy, bloody hell, heavy
isn't the word here, this is awesome, just what
you'd expect from Europe, heavy as you can
imagine. Heavy fast great impressive. This is a
promo CD so get in touch with them and ask what
they got to sell, cause if you like heavy you'll
love these. A favourite in my stereo. My Own
Way (holl) This CD was already released in
October 2000 but I'm gonna review it anyway cause
I think Slavery can use some more publicity and
they definitely need more shows in the Benelux
area. Slavery from Paris brings ya aggressive
sounding metalcore with a bit of a chaotic touch!
It kinda reminds me of Liar and a bit of Stampin'
Ground. It kinda surprised me that I've never
seen these guys play cause this sounds pretty
cool to me. Okay the production could have been
better and not all songs are as tight/smooth as
they should be but the main idea is pretty cool!
With Kickback being out of the picture cause of a
split up (still not really confirmed but okay) I
guess this is one of the bands that is ready to
represent France in the European metalcore scene!
I think for a debut demo CD this is pretty good
and I'm really curious about their new material!
Anyway, these guys are still looking for shows in
the Benelux, and they don't ask a lot of money
so contact them _at_ airbud19_at_hotmail.com ! I
think they deserve the chance to prove
themselves! Relapse Store (usa) Abrasive metal
core from France! Think Bolt Thrower meets
Another Victim meets Slayer as you have the
general idea. Lots of killer breakdowns and
strained vocals intermingled with alot of double
bass! Goodlife catalog and website comments
(bel) Excellent debut mcd from this Paris
Metalcore band! Quite surprising and very
promising... Check this out Extra brutal
Metalcore!!! Age of venus distro (fr) Very, very
good metalcore from Paris ! Overcome Records
catalog (fr) Excellent début , Metal Hardcore
insane ala Shadows Fall/ Overcast, great!
