INTRODUCTION

• Iraqi government is exerting efforts to upgrade
  the economic and services provided to the public
  in order to supply best services to the Iraqi
  citizens.
• As transportation sector is the essential
  background to the other sectors. And as it is
  impossible to give rise to these sectors without
  transportations sector.
• There for the Ministry of Transportation take the
  initiative and act to build and renew the whole
  Iraqi Transport Network through involving private
  sector in building and renewal process, as this
  sector has great and variable abilities to
  contribute in achieving prosperity to the citizen.

State Company for Iraqi Railway

• Established in 1913 and considered as one of the
  most ancient Iraqi companies and it specialized
  in carrying passengers and cargo inside Iraq.
• Also it is responsible for the administration and
  operating and maintenance of moveable/unmovable
  unites.

Proposed Projects for Investment

• They are already designed since 1983 and now
  under renewal of surveying and specification,
  they are-
• 1) Baghdad-Kut-Amara-Basrah project.
• 2) Baghdad circular project.
• 3) Baghdad-Baquba-Kerkuk-Arbil-Mosul project.
• 4) Mosul-Duhok-Zakho-Turkey project.
• 5) Musaiyab-Kerbala-Najaf-Semawa project.

Baghdad-Kut-Amara-Basrah

• It is considered part of the Railways connection
  between Iraq and Asia and Europe via Iraqi ports.

Baghdad Circular Project

• This project aims at connect all railways all
  together through central joint.

Baghdad Baquba Kerkuk Arbil Mosul Project

• This project aims at connect Iraqi provinces all
  together then with neibouring Turkey.

Mosul-Duhok-Zakho-Turkey Project

• This project aims at connect northern provinces
  with the neiboure Turkey.

Mesaiab Kerbala Najaf - Semawa Project

• This project aims at connect holy cities with
  Iraqi Railway Network and to activate religious
  tourism.

Iraqi Ports Company

• This company specialized in administration of the
  Iraqi Ports and navigation in the regional water
  and maintenance, dredging in the navigation
  channels and investment of the free zones within
  companys land.

• Al-Faw grand port establishment.
• The establishment of (13) multipurpose berths in
  Um-Qasar port.
• The establishment of containers station in
  Um-Qasar port.
• The establishment of (11) berth in Khor Al-Zubair
  port.
• Administration and operation of Abu Flous port.
• Administration and operation of Al-Maqal port.
• Administration and operation of Al-Maamir berth.
• The establishment of residential complex.

Al-Faw Grand Port

• This project aims at establishment a big port
  among the largest ten ports of the world at the
  Arabian Gulf coast to be one of the best twelve
  ports according to geographical location through
  exploiting distinguish location of Iraq which
  connect Eastern Asia with Arabian Gulf countries
  and Europe.
• It will be capable to deal with largest
  containers ships in the world (Post Panamax
  10-12000TEU) and deal with 5-6000 big ships
  annually.

Um-Qasar Port

• This project aims at increasing the capacity of
  shipping and discharging of the goods in the
  ports through establishing (13) multipurpose
  commercial berths with all equipment,
  accessories, services, service building, tag
  boats, railway internal road, some of the
  container berth and specialized berths (RORO).

Um-Qasar Container Station

• Establishment of four concrete berths and
  supported wall with services to the berths, paved
  road, area for stacking, building services,
  enlightenment towers and containers cranes.

Khor Al-Zubair Port Project

• Because of the limitation of berth capacity in
  the port it has been suggested to establish
  berths made of concert surface leant on steel
  sheet piles including for containers berths with
  buildings and services.

The Goal of the Project

• Establishment of (11) multipurpose commercial
  berth to increase handling capacity as the
  available capacity is (4) m ton/year. The
  establishment of these berths lead to doubling
  the capacity.

Abu-Flous Port Project

• This port lies on Shat Al-Arab in Abu Al-Khasib
  town and it is about (20) km to the south of
  Al-Basrah center.

The Goal of the Project

• Operating and developing the port by repairing
  the steel surface and increasing the available
  handling capacity in the port.

Al-Maqal Port Project

• It lies in the center of Al-Basrah on Shat
  Al-Arab shores.

• To get use of the broken down berths of the port
  because of damages resulted from previous world.
• As the port consist of (5) operating berths out
  off (15) berths.

Al-Maamir Berth Project

• Lies in Al-Faw town on the Shat Al-Arab shores
  near to Arabian Gulf.

The Goal of the Project

• To exploit Al-Maamir Berth as it is near to
  Al-Faw town and connect with network road to
  Al-Basrah and it is suitable to small ships and
  launches as well.

Residential Complex Project

• Aims at buildings residential complex in Al-Maqal
  area since there are infrastructure in the region
  (electricity, telecommunication and transport
  network).
