State Capital, Nashville

• Nashville is the capital and the second most
  populous city of the U.S. state of Tennessee. It
  is located on the Cumberland River in the
  north-central part of the state. Nashville is a

Oak Ridge

• Founded by the U.S. government 1942.
• For years Oak Ridge was used by the federal
  government to pursue activities in the fields of
  atomic energy and nuclear physics.
• The site was chosen (1942) to house the workers
  who developed the uranium-235 and plutonium-239
  for the atomic bomb.
• The community's existence was kept secret from
  most of the country until the summer of 1945.
• Oak Ridge's nicknames are the Atomic City, the
  Secret City, The Ridge and the City Behind the
  Fence.

Dyersburg

• The lands that make up Dyer County belonged to
  the Chickasaw.
• Dyersburg is the home of Reelfoot Lake and is on
  the Forked Deer River.

• Bristol is the twin city of Bristol, Virginia,
  just across the state line, which runs down the
  middle of State Street.
• Along with Kingsport, Tennessee and Johnson City,

Dandridge

• Dandridge is the second oldest city in Tennessee.
• Dandridge, named in honor of George Washingtons
  wife, Martha Dandridge Curtis Washington, is one
  of Tennessees oldest and most historic
  communities.
• Founded in the late 1700s and incorpo-rated in
  1843, Dandridge became the seat of Jefferson
  County three years before the state of Tennessee
  was founded.
• Many of the original buildings still stand,
  adding a flavor of an era gone by.
• Serving as the home of Carson-Newman College,
• Dandridge is located in east Tennessee near the
  Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
