Initiates Anti-Slavery in Campaign House
  • John Quincy Adams initiates anti-slavery in
campaign house in 1831. Freidel 18
  • John Quincy Adams was against slavery. He was so
against slavery that he fought for this rule for
eight years until finally he obtained his repeal.
    Freidel 18
  • Three reasons why he made this decision
  • He did not believe in slavery.Freidel 18
  • He always fought for what he considered was
    right. Freidel 18
  • He thought of himself as a powerful leader and
thought he could pass this rule. Freidel 18
  • The U.S. would be completely different without
this decision. There would be racism everywhere.
Schools would be separated, everything would be
unfair because of skin color. There would not be
great football teams, and basketball teams
without this rule. Michael Jordan would not be
famous, and a great hero for some Americans.
  • John Quincy Adams could have not went against
slavery, or could have just let it go.
  • I would have done the same thing as John Quincy
Adams, but I would not have died, I would have
fought for the rule until it was passed.

13
Initiates Against Anti-Slavery Continued
  • I think that every human should be treated equal.
  • I think that humans should be treated like
    humans, not pets.
  • I would not want the U.S. to be like that in the
    future.
  • Emily Scoggins

John Quincy Adams Soon to Build Roads and Canals
in US
  • In 1828 President John Adams made it known that
he would soon build roads and canals in Ohio and
eventually even throughout the entire US
  • He had taken on the job as president to improve
    the state of the US
  • He made the decision for three main reasons
  • The roads would provide easy access to places
throughout the US that could not be accessed this
    easily before
  • The canals would help with water transportation
    throughout the US
  • He wanted America to become modern
  • If he had not gone and made the canals, many
states that use the major canals such as the
Chesapeake and Ohio, would not have sufficient
roads and there would not be much water
  • Jacob Matthews

15
John Quincy Adams Passes Tariff of Abominations
  • John Quincy Adams passes a bill putting a tariff,
or fee on manufactured, imported goods
  • He felt that the tariff would help finance other
projects that he had in mind
  • Tariff would finance a national university and
    astronomical observatories
  • Tariff would finance exploration of US territory
  • Tariff would finance building of canals and
    roadways
  • If President John Quincy Adams had not passed the
tariff of Abominations, his ideas would have been
nothing. Even though not all of his ideas were
fulfilled as he wanted, his idea were passed on.
Without the circulation of these ideas, we may
not know how space works, because there would be
no observatories. Top students would not have a
high academics university to attend because there
would not be a national university.
