Title: Artificial Intelligence

1
IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
2
WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the area of
computer science focusing on creating machines
that can engage on behaviors that humans consider
intelligent. It is the cutting-edge of computer
    science. This generally involves borrowing
    characteristics from human intelligence, and
applying them as algorithms in a computer
friendly way. A more or less flexible or
efficient approach can be taken depending on the
    requirements established, which influences how
    artificial the intelligent behaviour appears.

3
BIG REALITY OF INTELLIGENCE
  • The ability to create intelligent machines has
intrigued humans since ancient times, and today
with the advent of the computer and 50 years of
research into AI programming techniques, the
dream of smart machines is becoming a reality.
Researchers are creating systems which can mimic
human thought, understand speech, beat the best
human chessplayer, and countless other feats
    never before possible.

4
  • It is the key technology in many of today's novel
applications, ranging from banking systems that
detect attempted credit card fraud, to telephone
systems that understand speech, to software
systems that notice when you're having problems
and offer appropriate advice. These technologies
would not exist today without the sustained
federal support of fundamental AI research over
    the past three decades.

5
ROLE OF NEURAL NETWORKS
  • Today, the hottest area of artificial
intelligence is neural networks, which are
proving successful in a number of disciplines
such as voice recognition and natural-language
processing. In the area of robotics, computers
are now widely used in assembly plants, but they
are capable only of very limited tasks with the
    artificial intelligence factor.

6
  • Robots have great difficulty identifying objects
based on appearance or feel, and they still move
and handle objects clumsily. Currently, no
    computers exhibit full artificial intelligence
(that is, are able to simulate human behavior).
The greatest advances have occurred in the field
    of games playing.

7
ADVANTAGES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
  • Artificial intelligence would not need any sleep.
This would be an advantage because it would not
be interrupted from its tasks for sleep, as well
as other issues that plague biological minds like
    restroom breaks and eating. Unemotional
consideration of problems. While an artificial
mind could theoretically have emotions, it would
be better for performance if it were programmed
    for unemotional reasoning.

8
  • When people make decisions, sometimes those
decisions are based on emotion rather than logic.
This is not always the best way to make
decisions. Once an artificial mind is trained in
a task, that mind can then be copied very easily,
compared to the training of multiple people for
the same task. Less errors and defects ,Minimized
time and resources. Time and resources are not
wasted but effectively used to achieve the end
    goal .

9
DISADVANTAGES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
  • Lacks the human touch. Human qualities are
    sometimes ignored.
  • The ability to replace a human job. This gives
rise to humans feeling insecure and may have the
    fear of losing their job.
  • Human capabilities can be replaced using a
machine and therefore can foster feelings of
    inferiority among workers and staff.
  • Artificial Intelligence can malfunction and do
the opposite of what they are programmed to do.

10
  • May corrupt the younger generation.
  • There is no filtering of information.
  • This type of technology can be misused to cause
    mass scale destruction.
