About the Artist

• Duane Onoderas art emerges as a response to
  his personal experiences in American culture.
  Born and raised in Colorado, he not only
  identifies with his identity as an artist.
  Onodera is also an ethnic minority, being of
  Asian American decent, and a homosexual. Much of
  his art contains elements from one or all of
  these three identities, containing images
  relating to art history, American culture, Asian
  culture, and sexuality. His brightly painted,
  carefully arranged canvases guide the viewers eye
  around the composition allowing them to examine
  all of the elements contained within.
• Recently, Onodera has begun exploring painting
  more abstract forms. By letting go of the
  confines of painting recognizable objects, he
  finds himself able to more freely express his
  inner emotions.
