Three schools opening in 2007-08
  • The District 202 community in March 2006
    approved the construction of nine schools over
    the next five years six elementary and two
    middle schools, and Plainfield East High School.
    Three will open in 2007
  • Elementary school -- Crossing Wolf Creek
    subdivision
  • Elementary school -- Windsor Ridge subdivision
  • Middle school -- Foxridge Farms subdivision

Parameters
  • Minimize number of students impacted by the
    reconfiguration of school attendance zones, while
    recognizing that the opening of two elementary
    schools and one middle school will necessitate a
    significant number of student moves
  • Consider previous moves by individual
    subdivisions
  • Assign entire subdivisions to schools
  • Wherever possible, stabilize the attendance zones
    of individual schools

Parameters
  • To the greatest extent possible, honor a House
    concept that promotes all students from an
    elementary school to the same middle school, and
    all students from a middle school to the same
    high school
  • Create equitable capacities throughout the
    district, taking into consideration space needed
    for growth in each attendance zone

Results
As a result of the Board of Educations
Parameters, the recommended attendance zones
  • Reduce enrollment to fewer than 1,000 students in
    all but two elementary buildings. District 202
    will continue to work to decrease enrollments in
    all buildings where enrollments exceed design
    capacity through thoughtful planning and
    construction of new facilities. The location of
    all new schools will be based on growth and
    population trends
  • Plan for the future by allowing room for growth
    in the schools geographically closest to District
    202s high growth areas

Results
  • Create a complete feeder system district-wide,
    except for the Fieldstone and Stone Bluff
    subdivisions, which currently attend Lakewood
    Falls Elementary School, Indian Trail Middle
    School and Plainfield High School-Central Campus
  • These subdivisions will attend Lincoln
    Elementary School and Ira Jones Middle School in
    2007-2008, but will continue to attend Plainfield
    High School-Central Campus until changes are made
    to high school attendance assignments in 2008-09
    as part of the opening of Plainfield East High
    School(PLEASE NOTE High school attendance
    zones will not change in 2007-08.)

    These elementary attendance zones have no growth,
    or are considered built out, and have
    enrollments of fewer than 1,000 students

Future Attendance Zone Changes
Attendance zones must be changed whenever new
schools open to ensure that all students are
properly assigned and school enrollments are
appropriate. District 202 will continue to
adjust attendance area zones in coming years,
starting in 2008-2009, as new schools open.
