Relaxed, Charming and Unpretentious are words
that describe The Manor House Hotel and Country
Club, a quintessential English Manor house built
on foundations that date back to the 12th
Century. Steeped in a rich history, reputed to
have been Henry VIIIs hunting lodge and for many
years home to the Eden Family. Secret passages
and even a friendly ghost or two! Situated in the
historic county of Durham it is an ideal base for
exploring Northumbrias many castles, cathedrals
and the Roman Wall. For a truly memorable
wedding our Knights Hall Suite Caters for up to
120 guests. A Red Carpet Welcome, our toast
master can conduct the proceedings, food that
will delight your guests, discreet service and
attention to detail assured . We also hold a
licence to hold Civil Weddings, which can take
place in the Eden Room for between 2 to 30 guests
or in the Knights Hall for between 2 and 120
guests. Our accommodation consists of 35
bedrooms, which include a variety of doubles,
twin, premier, four poster rooms and a suite.
Plenty of free parking space is also
available. We welcome you and your family to
come and look around our hotel, to see for
yourselves why we have earned a fine reputation
as one of the best venues in the area. I do hope

The Manor House Hotel and Country Club stands in
its own landscaped grounds. From the splendour of
the Knights Hall with its oak beams to the
Jacobean main staircase and panelled rooms, an
air of quiet confidence exudes and creates the
perfect atmosphere in which to relax. Because we
believe strongly that hospitality is a great
British tradition, no effort has been spared to
offer our guests a welcome that is personal and
genuine. Bedrooms are comfortably furnished and
well equipped many have been individually
designed with stylish fabrics, furniture and
antiques. The Health Club at The Manor House
Hotel is exclusive and really special offering
superb facilities in a refreshingly different
environment. Unwind in our swimming pool or spa
bath achieve your own personal goals in our
fitness suite, equipped with state of the art
cardiovascular and aerobic equipment. It is
designed to exercise the body rhythmically with a
comprehensive range of resistance machines
designed to isolate and develop special muscle
groups Our friendly staff can provide individual
fitness assessment programmes and will encourage

  • A deposit of 400.00 to be paid to confirm a
    booking
  • Six Months prior to the function date 50 of the
    balance to be paid
  • Full payment to be paid one month prior to the

  • All deposits are non refundable
  • Room hire charges will not apply for weddings
    with 60 guests or more for a daytime reception
  • An evening buffet must be provided for all
    evening guests (minimum of 100) or a room hire
    charge will be applicable
