A Brief Explanation
  • An AMX Control Panel is the official name for the
flat screen that sits on the instructor desk in
each of the videoconferencing rooms in Millennium
    Hall at UW-Stout.
  • The panel, as well call it, is an electronic
touch pad that controls most of the functions of
not only the event, but also the equipment in the
room. This panel responds when you touch the
visual buttons with your finger. In this
    presentation, well use the mouse.
  • Isnt this fun? (That isnt a test question)

Heres what youll see
This is a sleeping panel. It goes to sleep
like a computer screen after a set amount of
time. The screen lettering (a bit blurry in this
picture) says Press touch panel to begin.
Click your mouse on the panel above

Now youre ready to begin! Looking at the panel
above, which button would you touch to move
into the teaching mode, if you were teaching a
distance education class PRESENTATION, DISTANCE
EDUCATION, OR RETURN? Click on the one you

Some tips for using the panel
  • Each button you touch on the control panel gives
you different choices for control, depending on
the device you choose. Those controls show up in
    the preview panel

The image at left shows the preview in the center
of the control panel, when the instructor camera
is chosen. Notice the control buttons on this
preview? Notice the different controls as you
move to different devices in this presentation.
The controls for the instructor camera include
ZOOM, FOCUS, PAN/TILT, AUTO FOLLOW, etc.

the preview screen There is no picture until

actual control buttons on the DVD player
itself. CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE

There are a lot of options
  • There are many pieces of equipment you may use
  • Most are controllable from the panel
  • Instructor camera
  • 2 Student cameras
  • Document camera
  • Computer
