Careers in Botany
who wants to read all this?
  • PROFESSORI really enjoy teaching people about
plants. I derive great satisfaction from curing
plant blindness and opening peoples eyes to the
fascinating array of plants that surround us
plants that keep us from being naked, miserable,
and hungry. Plants only have roots, stems, and
leaves, yet using nothing but these same basic
components they display many nifty adaptations
for different ways of life, different
    environments, and different interactions with
    other organisms,
  • CELL BIOLOGISTBeing able to explore the unknown
    micro-world using sophisticated,
high-resolution microscopes is much like taking a
pack trip into the uncharted depths of the
Amazon, or exploring the deepest o ceanic
ravines, or traveling through our universe in a
spaceship destined to land on a newly discovered
    planet.
  • FIELD BOTANIST for the Ohio Department of
Natural Areas and Preserves and was able to put
my plant identification skills and love of
roaming to good use. It was a dream job, spending
five months a year walking throughout much of
southeastern Ohio looking for rare plants and
    potential new nature preserves.

particular career- but it got you thinking about
post secondary options
