AGAs Governance Structure
Overview
  • Members can actively participate in association
    activities through membership in over 100
    chapters throughout the world.
  • AGA members are represented at the national level
    by a Regional Vice President and by their Chapter
    President, both of whom serve on AGAs National
    Board of Directors (NBD).

Overview
  • The 15-member elected National Executive
    Committee (NEC) is tasked with ensuring the
    policies and objectives of the Association are
    implemented in accordance with the directors of
    the Board of Directors.
  • Each national officer of the Association is
    selected based on nominations made by chapters
    and individual members, so that they represent
    member needs to the fullest.

AGAs Governance Structure
Overview
  • Daily operations are handled by a full-time staff
    located in Alexandria, Virginia under the
    direction of an Executive Director who reports to
    the National Executive Committee.
  • More than 300 members serve on AGA volunteer
    committees. These committees participate in a
    variety of activities that assist the NBD, NEC
    and National President in carrying out the
    programs and operations of the Association.

  • Committee work includes such activities as
    developing conferences and educational and
    training workshops, commenting on legislation,
    and promoting community service.
  • Active participation in an AGA chapter and
    national committee can lead to important
    volunteer leadership positions within AGA.
