  • Dear Committee of Berklee Scholarship,
  • I m a 7th semester student majoring in
Performance, Im a Double Bass Player Im
submitting this portfolio to receive a Berklee
Achievement Scholarship for the Fall semester
08.I was able to attend Berklee College of Music
thanks to an Award of 12.000 won at Berklee at
Umbria Jazz Clinics 04. That was the most
beautiful day of my life the day that allowed me
to dedicate myself to the music my passion. My
career Goals are to be a high level professional
musician playing all the kind of music languages
Compose and record my music, make art to
contribute to the musical development of the XXI
century. I want to promote the Music as a kind of
Art and human expression, therefore the Music
Education to really understand it. Since I came
here in January 05 I started working hard as the
environment required indeed Ive almost finished
my Core Music and explored many others musical
topics. My Average Grade is high and my Ensemble
Rating increased big steps each semester and Im
part of the Deans list. Im a young excellent
musician and bass player and I m constantly
growing up Im very expert about Harmony.
  • Thanks to those qualities, a very open mind and
my positive attitude, I had the opportunities to
play in many gigs and projects in Berklee and the
Boston area. I did a lot of volunteer activities
like ensembles and recordings. I Recorded my
composition with my Sextet in spring 2006 and
spring 2007 and others in January 2007 I toured
Italy with my sextet and performed at the B.P.C.
in April 2007, also did other tour as a side man.
Actually Im working on some big musical project,
touring the world with different bands and take
part in a competition for bass and for my
Projects. The Berklee community is wonderful the
Faculties and the organization are excellent.
There are students from any part of the World and
is full of opportunities. This great experience
helps me in meeting great musicians, teachers and
students recording my music, doing a lot of
different musical experiences and growing up as a
musician as well as a human being.Unfortunately
my financial situation hardly allows me to
affront the tuition fees and the living expenses.
Im writing to receive the confirmation of my
scholarship and to ask for an augmentation.
Receiving support from Berklee would ensure the
continuation of my studies at the College. It
would mean to increase the making of high-quality
music, wich in my opinion is the best effort I
can give towards the Berklee Community.
  • Thank you very much for reviewing my application,
    best regards, Sincerely,
  • Francesco D. Marcocci

  • The Francesco Marcocci Sextet (or Pippi sextet)
is a Boston Based modern jazz band. During his
period of studies in Berklee Francesco meets many
talented musicians and teachers from all over the
world and shares experiences and knowledge.
Unfortunately - and not - the Sextet changed band
members many times except for Patriq Moody. With
him Francesco establishes a strong musical
collaboration working on many different projects
that will leads him to meet many others musicians
that will join the Band. In January 2007 the
sextet toured Italy with 5 gigs the tour was a
success good reviews on news paper and websites
and recordings played in some local radio
station. In April 2007 the band performed at the
B.P.C. The Francesco Marcocci Sextet plays only
original composition all the Band members are
encouraged in writing music for the Sextet. By
means of the jazz language and the improvisation,
the Sextet try to catch their emotions and
surrounding stimuli to create their own music and
a free dialogue between each other. The band is
stable from October 2006 except for Rob Hanlon
and Danny heat that left in February. Every band
members has a different and interesting
    artistic/musical story everyone received
scholarships and honour they are all fee lance
musicians active in the Boston music scene and
all of them have performances in tour and
