A Little Background/ History of the device

• The flash drive was first invented in 1998 at IBM
  as a floppy drive replacement for the ThinkPad
  line of products.
• The first flash drives were made by M-Systems
  under the "disgo brand in sizes of 8MB, 16MB,
  32MB and 64MB.

• Windows 98 does not support generic USB mass
  storage devices out of the box a separate driver
  for each manufacturer's USB drive used on the
  machine must be installed.
• Versions of Windows 95 with USB support are even
  worse, with drivers being almost totally
  unavailable.
