New Mobility Partnerships Building a Learning

Introduction and invitation
  • Our challenges of transport in cities given the
extreme circumstances of 2008 require, in fact,
that we reinvent the wheel. But we here in the
New Mobility Agenda are well aware that this is a
team task and we are only one modest player
among many. How to find our place and
    participate effectively?
  • Here we list some of the leading international
programs to whom we turn on a regular basis to
take the pulse of developments in the sector
worldwide. Not all of these are strictly
concerned with new mobility per se, but in our
search for new models of creative interaction we
are reaching out as well to a number of
sustainability groups leading the way in
    international networking.
  • You will note they span quite a range of
positions and attitudes toward priorities in our
field. This is as it should be. We do not share
all of their view or positions, but we
nonetheless regularly consult, think about, and
learn from them. And exchange information and
work with them when we can.
  • Of course, there are more excellent ones out
there. So when you find them, please send a note
to editor_at_newmobility.org so that we can add
them to this shared listing which is freely
available to all. Kind thanks. Eric Britton

Next steps?
  • You are kindly invited to review this listing and
let us know of other programs which in your view
should be added to this knowledge network in
    formation.
  • Latest results are freely available at
    http//knowledge.newmobility.org.
  • Seriously missing Direct working links with
    media (old and new)
  • However it is one thing simply to list these fine
programs -- and quite another to figure out how,
if at all, to link and thereby open up their
enormous content and have ready access to all
    their content and tools.
  • How to turn this from a dumb listing into a
coherent live working network? Is it just a
matter of getting the right software?
  • How if at all (and we hope this will happen) will
each get involved in this nascent collaborative
    knowledge building process?
  • We dont have the answers to this, but those are
some pretty interesting questions, wouldn't you
    say?
  • Stay tuned and get involved. You know what to do.
