Title: Our Solar System

1
Our Solar System
  • A Presentation by
  • Mrs. Quemuels Class

2
Solar system Uranus
  • A presentation by
  • Estelle Mcneil

3
  • The seventh planet from the sun Uranus orbits at
a distance 1784 million miles more than 19 times
farther earth. Uranus is the planet tipped on its
side. Uranus spins more likes side than a top.

  • Ever look up the night and see a shooting star?
    The shooting stars are meteoroids.
  • Most meteoroids are very small, the size of a
grain of sand but some can be up to 1 Kilometer
    0.6miles across.
  • Meteoroids are usually going very fast, 10 times
faster then the space shuttle goes.
  • Meteorites could be tiny particles left behind by
a comet or can even be an asteroid.
  • Meteoroids are in orbit around the sun.

6
Solar System Mercury
  • A presentation by
  • Amber Carr

7
  • Mercury is the closest planet to the sun.
  • Mercurys year is 58 days and 15 minutes
  • It is the smallest planet in the solar system

8
Solar systemSaturn
  • A presentation by
  • Angely

9
  • Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun.
  • Saturn rings are made of ice and rock particles.

10
  • Saturn is also called the ringed planet.
  • The average temperature on Saturn is -300F.
  • Saturn is the largest.
  • Saturn look like a ball that is being squished
  • There are 18 known moons orbiting Saturn.

11
  • To escape Saturn s gravity you need to travel 79
    hour.
  • Saturn has a total of 21 satellites.
  • It makes one complete orbit around the Sun every
29.46 years and rotates on its axis at a very
fast speed. It is about 1.4 billion kilometers
    from the sun.
  • Saturn is known for the many rings than go around
    it.

12
Solar SystemPluto
  • A Presentation By
  • Douglas Grover

13
PLUTO
  • PLUTO is the ninth planet from the sun.
  • It is about 5.9 billon kilometers from the sun.
Makes one complete order around the sun every 248
years. Rotates on its axis slowly when compared
to Earth. It completes one rotation in about 6
    days and 9 minutes. Is

14
  • Pluto is the ninth planet from the sun. It
orbits a 3.647 million miles (nearly
  • 40 times as far from Earth is). With a
  • diameter

15
SOLAR SYSTEMStars
A PRESENTATION BYJOHNNY OCASIO
16
STARS
  • Star are formed from gas and dust
  • Go through many stages in their lifetime.
  • Stars are very hot
  • Stars are very far
  • away from the Earth.
  • Our sun is a star.

17
SOLAR SYSTEMVENUS
  • A Presentation By
  • Amanda Dombroski

18
  • Venus is the Second planet from the sun. Its
average Distance is about 67 million miles.
Sometimes called Earths sister planet, Venus is
slightly small its also our closest neighbor at
about 25 million miles away Venus is hot enough
to melt lead. Its surface temperature 900F. This
makes Venus the hottest place in the solar system
    after the sun.

19
Solar system Earth
  • A presentation by
  • Teressa F

20
A Closer Look At Earth
  • Earth is the third planet from the sun,
  • It is about 93 million miles from space.
Earth looks like the blue water world.
  • Earth has 4 seasons. It takes 365 days to
    rotate around the sun.

21
Solar SystemThe Sun
  • Taqasia Evans

22
Facts about the Sun
The sun Makes life on our planet possible The
sun gives us great amounts of light. It helps
things grow. The sun is a medium star. The sun
is the center of the solar system.

23
SOLAR SYSTEMMOON
  • A PRESENTATION BY
  • JESUS TORRES

24
  • Is a satellite of the Earth and orbit around
it. It has a diameter of about 3,476
kilometers. The surface has many craters on it.
  • The Moon causes many of the tides in the
    Earths oceans.
  • We can see the moon at night.

25
SOLAR SYSTEMNeptune
  • A presentation by
  • Ricky Rolon

26
  • Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun . It
orbits at an average of 2,794 million Earth )
  • About 4 Earths would fit across the face of
    Neptune.
  • Neptune has a weather system that is very active.
Some storms with winds of 400 miles per hour have
lasted for hundreds of years on its surface
  • Neptune has a total of 8 satellites (or moons )

27
Solar SystemMARS
  • A presentation by
  • LISSETTE SANTIAGO

28
  • Mars is the fourth planet from the sun.
  • The planet reddish color is caused by rust.
  • It takes 24 hours an about 1 Earth day for Mars
    to rotate one tine.
  • Mars has the largest canyon Vales Mainers.

29
  • Make one complete orbit around the sun every
    686.98 day.
  • It has a total of 2 satellites or moons.
  • Mars has seasons similar to our planet, but they
    last much longer.
  • It is the fourth planet in order from the sun.
  • Mars is called the red planet.

30
ASTRONAUTS
  • A Presentation by
  • Juanita

31
  • The term "astronaut" derives from the Greek
words meaning "space sailor," and refers to all
who have been launched as crew members aboard
NASA spacecraft bound for orbit and beyond. Since
the beginning of NASA's human space flight
program, the term "astronaut" has been the title
for those selected to join the NASA corps of
astronauts who make "space sailing" their career
profession.  The term "cosmonaut" refers to those
space sailors who are members of the Russian
    space program.
  • The crew of each launched spacecraft is made
up of astronauts or cosmonauts. The crew
assignments and duties of commander, pilot, Space
    Shuttle mission specialist, or International
Space Station flight engineer are drawn from the
    NASA professional career astronauts.
  • They explore the mysteries of space to find
answers that will make the world a better place.
