Conference Highlight
USAF Thunderbirds Newest Aircraft
By Paul Wisenheimer, USA TODAY LAS VEGAS In an
effort to curtail spending for the war on
terrorism and showcase Americas latest premier
weapon system in the war on terrorism, the USAF
announced today they are changing the
Thunderbirds aircraft from the F-16 Fighting
Falcon to the MQ-1 Predator for the 2005 season.
A select group of crack MQ-1 pilots have been
formed at Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary
Field near Las Vegas, NV to hone their skills on
flying tight formation and daring aerobatic
maneuvers. Top generals in the Air Force are
hoping that the change from the F-16 to the MQ-1
will also help serve as a recruiting tool within
the Air Force to attract more pilots to fly the
Predator. The Predator Thunderbird group is
completing a grueling qualification training
program that is expected to be completed at the
end of the 2004 air show season. The New
Thunderbirds will make their aerial debut at
Pratt, Kansas Municipal Airport.

AFCGOC Vision

• Forging an Air Force-wide Company Grade Officer
  informational framework providing for and
  encouraging retention, professional development,
  base and community support, and esprit-de-corps
  by delivering a system for base-level councils to
  interact and achieve synergistic effects through
  collective effort and knowledge sharing

• To promote the development of Company Grade
  Officers throughout the Air Force Company Grade
  Officer regional structure.
• To develop and maintain an informational network
  to enhance professional development, community
  service, base support and camaraderie throughout
  all CGOCs Air Force wide.
• To provide a communication structure to deliver
  the pulse of the CGOs representative by the
  regional CGOCs to the Air Force Senior Management
  at the Air Staff.

• Request Air Staff GO to be the AFCGOC
  Champion/Advisor for AF CGOC Issue
• To serve as a champion for all AF CGOCs
• To receive feedback pertaining to issues
  affecting CGOs
• To utilize the AFCGOC to request feedback on
  issues that can not be addressed via official
  channels
• Develop a plan to provide CGO feedback to senior
  AF leaders
• Re-establish CGOC as a viable network with firm
  senior leader support
• Re-establish Pacific and European Region CGOCs
• Develop a roadmap for future CGO Professional
  Development Conferences with Regional Staffs
