EMMA achievements

• Initiated by th Working Group on Co-operation
  between European Forecasters (2000)
• Eumetnet programme since 2002
• Phase 1 lead towards proto typing of the EMMA
  system performed by Consortium UKMO, DWD, MF,
  KNMI and experts from all European NMSs ended in
  2004
• Phase 2 leading to the operational EMMA system
  serving millions of European Citizens, The
  Meteorological Community and National Civil
  Security Authourities now under bidding and
  expected to end late 2006
• Trying to harmonise Colour Assignment by means of
  return period
