Location

• no interruptions like door noise,
  children running around, dog barking, roosters
  crowing, traffic noise, etc
• Tidy surroundings
• Should have at least a 1GHz processor
  and 1G RAM computer with an Operating System

Pre-sessions

• The following things are needed and should
  be prepared by coaches
• o Headset, No speakers allowed
• o Functioning webcam
• o Stable internet connection
• Coaches should be booked for Epic
  session
• Coached should check out the
  student profile found in the forum
  (http//gpielo.freeforumns.org)
• Coaches should emails the student
  as an introduction of the him/herself and as a
  reminder of the session. They
• should also give the student an idea of
  what they intend to do on the session.
• Coach should have a recorder.
• Should receive an email from the
  EOC about their session

During session

• Coach should log in 10 minutes before
  the session
• They should have appropriately attired
  and groomed
• Session should start, 5 minutes past
  the hour
• Coach should start the session with the
  video. If the connection is stable, the session
  should continue with the video. If the connection
  is not stable, the coach can turn off the video
  in between the session.
• The video should also be turned on
  before the end of the session
• The Coach should give the student a
  reminder to answer their evaluation form 5
  minutes before their session.
• Ask open ended questions
• Avoid using Filipino accent when
  speaking to the students

Post Session

•          Coaches should name this audio file in
  the following manner CoachRef_StudentRef_YYMMDD
•          Coaches will send a Student Feedback to
  the student by email, covering
• o   Areas which the student has done well
• o   Areas which the student needs to improve
• o   Recommendations on what the student can do
  until the next session
•          Coaches should update the Forum Folder
  on the student with the following
• o   The Student Feedback
• o   Highlights of the session
• o   Topics discussed
• o   Links used
• o   Notes for next Coach

In between sessions

• Coach should not give much homework.
  They should use approved links for their sessions
• Should give 2 exercise at most for
  every sessions
• Coach should maintain flowing
  conversation between them and the student

Dos and Donts

• Do not give personal details to the
  student
• Do not influence the student about the
  Coach Evaluation.
• Do not ask the student to introduce
  himself/herself unless it is his/her first EPiC
  session.
• Do not correct every sentence the
  student makes. Remember, you need to build
  his/her confidence.
• Do not dominate the conversation
• Do not interrupt them while they are
  speaking
• Do not use idioms or slang words
  without explaining them
• Do not ask the age of the students
• Do correct the student for
• - incorrect pronunciation
• - incorrect tense
• Help build confidence for the students
• Refrain from laughing or giggling too
  much
• Avoid using Filipino accent when
  speaking to the students
• Do not to introduce any content or
  links for any student which has not been approved
  by EOC
