007 POPULATION STUDY OF FLOUR BEETLES
Flour beetles are a common storage pest. Students
can be given an awareness on the multiplication
rate of these beetles and the need to protect
flour.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Plastic container Wheat flour Thin cloth Flour
beetles

Fill the plastic container with wheat flour.
Introduce about ten beetles into it. Cover the
container with thin cotton cloth to allow air to
pass through. Paste a label with date and Keep
the container in warm place for ten days. Sieve
the flour after ten days. Count the number of
beetles, larvae and eggs after ten days. Write
your comments on their population.
