BREW Introduction

• BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless)
  was developed by Qualcomm.
• Originally developed for CDMA phones but as of
  now it supports GSM.
• It is a software platform that can download and
  run small programs for playing games, sending
  messages and sharing photos etc.
• Advantage of BREW is that applications can be
  easily ported between all Qualcomm services by
  the application developer.

• Can be developed in C or C using the BREW SDK.
• Java application supported if Java Virtual
  machine available on handset.
• Multiple levels of application signatures
  provided by the BREW environment.
• BREW applications can be transferred using a USB
  or serial cable to any BREW-compatible handset
  using BREW AppLoader.
• BREW Applications may be unloaded from a consumer
  handset.
• Adobe Flash Lite as a supported user interface on
  BREW.
• Easier to support for Operators.
