Marine adaptation

What is adaptation?
  • Different types of ways an animal can adapt.
    Animals adapt by changing their physical
    appearance or changing their behavior. Adaptation
    is very important for an animals survival.

Blue Whale
  • Biggest whale, is toothless, and blue and gray
  • Live in all oceans
  • In summer it goes to polar seas and in winter it
    goes to warmer waters
  • Nose holes are on the top of their head

Hammerhead Shark
  • Wide thick head with the eyes at the margins. It
    is gray brown above with a white belly.
  • It lives in tropical waters, over the continental
    shelf.
  • Hammerhead shark migrates seasonally to cooler
    waters
  • 400 million years ago sharks had double-pointed
    teeth. Teeth are triangular and pointed to attack
    their prey.

Dolphin
  • Has beak, fins, blowhole and a tail. Its gray
  • Mostly cold water. Sometimes warm water
  • Blowhole on neck. Fin in the back
  • It eats fish, squid and swallows its food hole.

Orca
  • Black and white, long dorsal fin, long tail
  • Mostly cold water
  • Has nose on its head
  • Live in groups called pods to protect from
    threats.
