Graduation Requirements
  • Graduation status 220 required to graduate.
    Should have between 160 -170 starting senior year
  • Student responsibility to know how many credits
    theyve earned towards graduation
  • Grad status letter and transcript mailed home.

Learning Center
  • Purpose to make up failed classes that you need
    for graduation (not college prep)
  • See your Academic Advisor to sign up
  • Must take 6 classes on campus
  • Begins Monday, Sept. 24, Rm. P13
  • Available M Th 3-7 pm
  • Must enroll on a Monday may attend any days
    min. attendance is 6 hours a week

Career Center
  • Tutor lists available (student tutor lists and
    community tutors)
  • Work permits
  • Computers available for online applications
  • College visits scheduled in the fall during
    tutorial lists are posted outside the career
    center and on the ANHS websiteclick on Guidance
    then on College Visitations

ROP
  • To drop or change an ROP class, notify Mrs.
    Anthony, Career Center
  • Students can be dropped for non-attendance
  • If dropping below 5 classes, student will be sent
    to Serra H.S. for remainder of semester

  • Early Bird Applications for incoming Freshman
    will be available in March 2008
  • Saddleback, Orange Coast as well as Irvine Valley
    College will be hosting a Senior Day in March,

  • All academic divisions

Concurrent Enrollment
  • Students may take selected course at Saddleback
    College and earn both high school and college
    credit.
  • To learn how to apply and view a list of approved
    courses go to alisoniguel.com and click guidance
    then click Saddleback Concurrent List
  • If used as a 5th class this grade will be
    calculated as a non-weighted grade in your GPA

Transfer Credit
  • To determine if your chosen Saddleback course
    will transfer to the four year California college
    you plan on attending
  • Go to the ASSIST web site (www.assist.org)
  • Type in the name of the school/university where
    you will be taking the course
  • Type in the name of the college/university you
    plan to transfer to
  • A list of pre-approved transfer courses will be
    shown

  • Private/Out of State
  • Request applications directly from the
    college/university/trade/vocational school
    through email, phone, or download from university
    website
  • Send AP/SAT/ACT scores to each college you apply
    to
  • Earlier deadlines may be required for
    scholarships. Check the application carefully.
  • Be sure to have an appropriate email address for
    your college applications. Check your emails
    every day for news from the colleges

    . Click Undergraduate admissions then click Apply
    online for Fall 2008
  • READ all the instructions FIRST and take the
    online tutorial. Errors will cause your
    application to be delayed in processing and/or
    you may be denied.
  • Fill out 1 application only for all UC schools
  • Cost 60 per school
  • IMPORTANT Applications available online
    starting Oct. 1
  • Submit Applications November 1-30 only
  • Be sure to send your AP/SAT/ACT scores directly
    from the testing services
  • UC does NOT want Letters of Recommendation or
    transcripts at this time
  • UC application workshop Oct. 18 245- 400 in
    library

    for 2008-2009 application

  • Fill out an application for each CSU school
  • Cost 55 per school
  • Submit applications October 1 to November 30
  • Be sure to send your AP/SAT/ACT scores directly
    from the testing services
  • Do NOT send Letters of Recommendation or
    Transcripts at this time

Letters of Rec
  • UC and CSU schools do not want letters of
    recommendation or transcripts when submitting the
    application.
  • Almost all private schools require both a
    transcript and a Letter of Recommendation as well
    as a Secondary School Report from the academic
    advisor

Letters of Rec
  • To request a letter of recommendation, go to
    www.alisoniguel.com , Guidance, Letters of Rec
  • Print out the 3-page form (contains info,
    deadlines, and a questionnaire)
  • Provide your academic advisor with the completed
    questionnaire and a resume, allow 4 weeks to
    complete

Transcripts
  • Read the college application carefully to
    determine when/how transcripts are to be sent.
  • Official Transcripts to be attached to an
    application/secondary school report OR to attach
    to a scholarship application must be ordered
    through Aliso Guidance office for a 10.00 fee
    per transcript
  • Official Transcripts sent directly to colleges
    must be ordered through docufide at
    alisoniguel.com, transcript request 10.00 fee
    per transcript

College Entrance Tests
  • Three testing dates left for ACT, SAT I and II
    (Oct., Nov. Dec.) for seniors
  • To Register for testswww.collegeboard.com for
    SAT or www.actstudent.org for ACT Registration
    forms are also available in the guidance office.
    Register early -dont get sent far away!!!
  • SAT I and II- last testing date December 1
  • ACT - last testing date December 8
  • Warning Some colleges require all testing to be
    completed by October of the senior year.

College Entrance Tests
  • Remember to have your test scores sent to the
    colleges first 4 schools are free. 9.50 for
    each additional school
  • Some colleges want your scores prior to December.
    For example, Cal Poly SLO, Sonoma, SDSU or Chico
    want you to take the SAT by November.
  • Use school code 3594 to send to csumentor for all
    CSUs for only one fee

NCAA
  • Planning on participating in Division 1 or 2
    sports at the college level?
  • You must fill out an NCAA student release form
  • Without this form you can not compete at the
    college level

    and more information

Scholarships
  • Go to www.alisoniguel.com, click on guidance,
    then scholarships
  • Chart lists scholarships in alpha order with
    either direct link to scholarship website or
    directions to see Mrs. Hecht in guidance
  • Available scholarships will be listed with a
    new tag and 2008
  • Check daily/weekly for updates
  • Local applications need to be turned in to Mrs.
    Hecht (3 copies)

  • Beware of scholarship scams. It should not cost
    money to apply for a scholarship.

Financial Aid
  • Three main Financial Aid forms FAFSA-online, Cal
    Grant (paper form), CSS Profile-online. Some
    private colleges may have another form in
    addition to these.
  • For assistance/information go to
    www.alisoniguel.com, Guidance, Financial Aid
  • Parents and students should apply for two PIN
    numbers NOW. One for the student and one for the
    parent. The Fed. Gov will send each of you a pin
    number to use as the electronic signature when
    you submit the online FAFSA.
  • We encourage all students to complete the
    FAFSA-this is the basis for colleges and
    universities to determine what, if any aid they
    might offer you, including grants (money that is
    not paid back), loans, work study, etc.)
  • You must submit the FAFSA in order to be
    considered for any type of Federal loan and to be
    considered for a California Grant

Financial Aid
  • Always apply for financial aid let the college
    decide if you are eligible
  • You may fill out the CSS profile now for any
    private colleges that require it
  • Fill out the FAFSA online and the GPA (paper)
    verification form beginning Jan. 1
  • Cal Grant awards may be held until you transfer
    to a four year college

Conditional acceptance
  • Any offer of acceptance is conditional on
    providing final high school grades
  • Colleges do revoke acceptance based on severe
    cases of senioritis
  • Most Colleges will not accept D grades
  • You need to notify your college of any academic
    changes to your schedule OR in your grades

Valedictorians
  • All students with 4.0 GPA or higher based on all
    courses except P.E.
  • Based on second semester progress reports and
    final grades issued in the final semester
  • Valedictorians at second progress report (12th
    week) are recognized at Senior Awards Ceremony
    and their name is printed in Graduation Program
  • Recalculated at 18th week to receive white
    academic gown for Graduation
