So what is Podcasting?

• Podcasting The New Age of Radio, audio
  podcasting is the practice of recording audio
  files and distributing them over the internet, so
  people can listen to them on mp3 players and
  computers
• You can also podcast in text (RSS or Atom feeds)
  or even video
• They can be saved in many formats, including mp3,
  ogg vorbis, wmv and QuickTime

Why communicate with parents?

• When schools talk to parents, it has been proven
  to raise achievement in schools
• It also helps school discipline

• Building the homework help websites help students
  at home sick, those who forget, parents being
  informed and administrators having a one-stop
  place to check on homework levels

What do we use it for?

• We can use the podcast to provide information to
  parents, spread student work, increase technology
  know-how, and give ideas and presentations to the
  World Wide Web
• Podcasting increases technology fluency and
  production brings classmates together, and forces
  them to get creative

THE FUN OF PODCASTING

• Its really fun because you get to tape all of
  the video and music
• It is a great educational experience in which we
  get to have a great time using technology

How can you make/spread them?

• We used an open-source software called Audacity.
  It enables you to use a microphone and record and
  edit the audio files, and export/save them.
• You can distribute them by I-Tunes, Yahoo!
  Podcasting, the Internet, and your own
  blog/webpage. You can save them in mp3, wmv, and
  ogg vorbis for mass compatibility.

Homework Help Website

• We gather homework information from each teacher
  weekly and use it for a reference for the website
• To design the website, we take the information
  and log on to the designing website with editing
  rights and use HTML to insert the hw into a
  weekly organizer with info such as date due,
  special instructions, date assigned, the
  assignment and dates of the week
