Who Killed My Daughter? About the Show
About the Show - kaitarquette.arquettes.com
Based on the renowned book, WHO KILLED MY
DAUGHTER The Reality Series is the real life
journey of a mother, determined to track down the
one responsible for her daughters murder.
On July 16, 1989, a deadly, humid, summer night,
Kaitlyn Arquette, eighteen years old, was
murdered. It was considered by the authorities
to be a drive-by shooting. She came home for a
few minutes that night, taking into account that
she was on her way to Sharon Smiths house, an
old friend, to spend the night. After various
interviews, Sharon concluded that Kait had
numerous episodes of sobbing, which she couldnt
provide explanation for. Kaitlyn was reportedly
having trouble with her boyfriend, Dung Ngoc
Nguyen. At ten-thirty that evening, Kait went ho
me, remembering a major exam she was to have the
following day. She left the house and traveled
east on Lomas Boulevard, on her way back home to
study. As she crossed the intersection of Lomas
Boulevard and John Street, her life was robbed
from her. Lois Arquette, best
known under her pseudonym, Lois Duncan, serves as
the star of this reality program, taking
audiences of all ages on a horror thrill ride
through her and her familys life after the death
of Kaitlyn. The frantic urge of Mrs. Arquette to
have the whole city of Albuquerque, New Mexico
covered in REWARD posters is for the first time,
nationally exposed. Weekly, another aspect of
the case is revealed and investigated.
Expert accounts of psychics, to phone records are
examined each week. Betty Muench, Noreen Renier,
Nancy Czetli, and Greta Alexander, all psychics,
insert crucial input to the case.
In dire desperation, Mrs. Arquette then posts
countless flyers even in dangerous Vietnamese
communities to get word across about her
daughter, in hope to find her killer.
In response, death threats are forwarded to the
Arquette residence. Our cameras were there to
capture the moment these letters were read.
As the season continues, Mike Gallagher, an
investigative newspaper reporter for the
Albuquerque Journal, later comes into the case.
Mike Gallagher was a previous friend of Mrs.
Arquette. At first, Mrs. Arquette had various
doubts whether she should allow him to see all
the behind the scenes information. Stay tuned
to Who Killed My Daughter? as the Arquettes make
horrific discoveries revealing the hidden life of
their honor student daughter. Could Kait have bee
n involved in a world of Vietnamese gangs and an
illegal drug circle? Did she know too much? Did
someone think that she would crack and turn to
the police? Was a professional hit man hired to
murder Kait? Or was it just a random drive-by
shooting where someone was tangled in a high
school dare to shoot the first young, innocent
teenage girl they saw?

About the Show
Diary Entry of Lois Arquette 2 Days following
the Death
Episodes
July 19, 1989 Dear Diary,I always imagined
Kaitlyn, my daughter, as a vase. Sounds silly,
doesnt it? She was the rose in that vase. That
day of her death was when my happiness was
crushed, like the delicate glass of the vase
shattering on a marble floor. My expectations
for my youngest child vanished. My rose was
gone. Kaitlyn was one of those A students
with a world of success ahead of her. She was
the one who cared about everybody, including the
kids who sat alone at lunch. She was the one who
actually enjoyed volunteering at the local
hospital. She was the one who would fervently
listen to the old ladies about their past, no
matter how boring or out of it they were. That
is why we were all so confused. We couldnt
figure out who would take the life of such a
sweet girl in the prime of life. Yes, she had
trouble with her boyfriend, Dung Nguyen, but that
was normal. They were kids! They didnt really
know what love was!I remember that summer night
in July of 1989. Don, my husband, and I were
watching 60 Minutes. Kait came in and told us
that she was going to a friends to spend the
night. I had that feeling. That feeling where
you just dont want them to do anything or go
anywhere. I always dream that I would have tied
her to the couch and let her stay there for the
night. Of course, I would never do that to a
child. We had to let her go. She was eighteen,
an adult. That was the worst mistake of our
lives. I dread that decision we made. We were
so clueless. Why didnt we do anything to stop
her? We can never forgive ourselves for that
mistake. Never. When we entered the University
of New Mexico Hospital, I hadnt known anything.
The woman on the phone, who called at around
eleven oclock in the evening, only released the
information that Kait was injured and that we
would be filled in on all the details when we
arrived. I was clueless as to what happened to
my daughter. It was just Don and I. We walked
up to the floor Kait was placed on. Shes going
to be fine. I told myself as we walked down the
stark, endless hallway. The nurse replied when
we made it to our destination, Your daughter has
been shot in the head.I had the feeling like a
ton of bricks collapsed on me. I felt like the
sand of the beach slid out from under my feet,
as the tidal wave struck the shore and I was
sucked under. The funeral was the worst.
The funeral reception was even worse than the
worst. I felt like I was literally dying. You
know that feeling when your heart feels sunken
and your throat is closing and tears are being
pressured into your eyes? That was how I felt.
At the end of the gathering, I physically
couldnt stand up. I was too weak. I was
paralyzed physically and mentally. Our daughter
was gone. And we couldnt do anything to bring
her back. Lois Arquette Lois Arquette

About the Show
After follow-up interviews with Lois Arquette,
she is coping relatively well after the cameras
stopped rolling. I really have to start to move
on. It is hard, but I know it is what I have to
do for Kaitlyn. It is really quiet now without
the cameras and it seems we are living in the
Dark Ages without all the camera lights.
In 1996, Don proudly accepted the presidency at
our local church. Kerry, our daughter, wrote her
first childrens book, Daddy Promises. Our two
other children, Robin and Brett, both recently
got married. We also just found out that Donnie
is moving away to Texas. It seems as if we are
losing all of our children. Don and I are
alone. We do find things to do, however. We watc
h all the investigative shows on television like
60 Minutes and 20/20. Sometimes its hard.
Actually, most of the time its hard. Its
crazy, however, to see how so many other people
have to go through the same thing, or even worse.
I have dreams about Kaitlyn. She is standin
g there in front of me, with her gorgeous, golden
hair flowing gracefully in the breeze. I wish I
could put my hand out and touch her, but it is
impossible. All I can do is see her, and feel
her aura. We are still having trouble with the po
lice. We know they are withholding crucial
information to the case. Juve Escobedo, Miguel
Garcia, and Dennis Martinez were detained for the
murder of Kait, but they were eventually set free
after trial. All charges were officially
dropped. Since the murder, we have decided as a
family to raise the reward money to 25,000 for
anyone who can provide any answers in the case.
We will not ask for any names. We just want the
truth. Betty Muench, Noreen Renier, Nancy Czetli,
and Greta Alexander, the psychics, have
continued to help us with the case. In fact, I
went to visit Noreen Renier in Maitland, Florida.
Also, throughout the years, we have made appear
ances on national televised shows such as Good
Morning, America and Larry King Live. We will
continue to do whatever it takes to find the
people who know the answers to our endless amount
of questions. The book, Who Killed My Da
ughter? Has gained much popularity over the
years. CBS news anchor, Connie Chung, made this
statement referring to the book as, A true story
in which a grieving mother claims that her
daughter was murdered when she was about to go to
the police. The Lifetime show, Unsolved Mysterie
s also aired a dramatized segment on the murder
of Kaitlyn Clare Arquette, on January 27, 1993.
The Albuquerque Journal reporter, Mike Gallagher,
worked with the producers in creating a realistic
perception of the events that occurred. In the
final minutes of the shoot, Lois replied This
was not a random shooting Kait was
assassinated.

Dreaming of You Selena This song illuminates
Lois Duncans passion for her daughter. She
spent countless nights dreaming that her daughter
was there down the hall. The lyrics read, Late
at night when all the world is sleeping, I stay
up and think of you... Mrs. Duncan fervently
continues, and still continues today, to solve
the murder, into the early morning hours, hoping
to one day... attain justice.

All I want for Christmas is You Maria Carey
This song illuminates Lois Duncans wish to have
her daughter back. Every day, Lois imagines what
it would be like being able to see her daughter
once again. That is all that she wants. The
lines in the song are I dont want a lot for
Christmas. There is just one thing I need...
Lois Duncan doesnt want any presents for
Christmas. She couldnt care if she got coal for
Christmas. She just wants to have her daughter
in her arms.

Hero Maria Carey This song really shows the
importance of love. Lois needs someone who will
comfort her and tell her that everything will be
okay in the end. She needs a hero. Don is her
hero through the years. When a hero comes
along, with the strength to carry on... Don has
the mental strength to move on. He is the one to
teach and guide Lois through every time the road
gets rough.

Its All Coming Back To Me Now Celine Dion
This song illuminates Lois Duncans re-occurring
vision of that night in July of 1989, when
Kaitlyn Clare Arquette was murdered. She can
recall the thoughts that were in her head. She
can recall the actions that she made and the
actions that she wanted to have made. In the
song, the main lyrics are Its all coming back
to me now... Lois experiences this every day of
her life without Kait.
What Others Are Saying
I Will Always Love You Whitney Huston This
song illuminates Lois Duncans sincere love for
her daughter. Even though Lois had five
children, she had love for each one of them.
Kait was no exception. The lyrics in the song
are Bitter sweet...memories...that is all I am
taking with me...And I will always love you...
The memories that Lois and her family have are
sweet. They are happy at first, but then, as one
realizes that Kait is gone, the memories arent
so sweet anymore. They are bittersweet. The
main climax of the song, And I will always love
you... is one of the most powerful lines a
singer has sung. Lois will always love Kait, no
matter what situations she got herself into.

The Wind Beneath My Wings Bette Midler This
song illuminates the importance of family and
love in rough times. Bette Midler sings, Did I
ever tell you that youre my hero? Youre
everything I wish I could be...Did you ever know
that youre my hero? Family is the hero in a
situation like this. Without the support of her
family and husband, Lois would probably have
broken down. A hero doesnt need to be one
person. A hero is someone who will guide the
way.
