  • Goals
  • by Snowmass demonstrate 5 ns rise/fall time (at
    nominal TDR field) to show that the kicker
    should not be primary DR circumference
    consideration. (WG3)
  • by 2007
  • extract 3 MHz, 60 bunch ILC pulse train of
    nominal emittance bunches into ATF2 (WG4)
  • Demonstrate functioning ILC extraction kicker
    system (WG3)

Stripline kicker requirements
  • TDR 100Gm, 10KV, 60 mm diameter
  • tested 10G, 10KV (need 10 meter long magnet
    string!)
  • ATF need 220Gm have much less space
  • try 100G 20KV (4 x TDR power), 12 mm diameter
  • need 2.2 meters (other things equal)
  • Is this reasonable?

Stripline kicker pulsers
  • need reverse fed, relatively short (300 mm)
    devices
  • 8 magnets total with 8 or 16 pulsers, each
    roughly 4 times TDR pulser power
  • simplest brute force stripline magnet design has
    2 pulsers/magnet /- polarity
  • LLNL working on transformer to reduce to 1 pulser
    / magnet
  • some cost in rise time?
  • 8 x 4 32 TDR pulsers 80 K excluding support
    electronics
  • DESY tested magnet had beam impedance coating
    needs checking
