    indentifying, classifying and naming organisms.

  • Taxonomy is based on evolutionary relationships.

D. How do we name Organisms?
  • Scientists use a scientific name for each
    organism based on the Latin and Greek Languages.
  • It is a 2 name naming system or binomial
    nomenclature.
  • These names are the same no matter where you go
    and it includes the Genus and species names.

E. How can you figure out an organism's type?
  • By using a dichotomous key or field guide.
  • To use the key you answer yes or no questions and
    it leads you to the correct species.
