• Magician is a riveting story told by Raymond E.
  Feist. It follows Pug, an orphan boy, adopted by
  the keeps Baron, who lives in the castle of
  Crydee. He and his best friend Tomas, the cooks
  son, are determined to become soldiers, however
  this becomes increasingly unlikely for Pug due to
  his small stature.

• Their carefree existence becomes a distant
  memory with the sudden appearance of a boat. The
  boat is highly unusual, and contains strange men
  who speak an unknown language. Goblins and dark
  brothers are moving in large groups through the
  mountains near Crydee, and making regular attacks
  on outlying villages.

• Pugs great talent for magic sees him
  apprenticed by the court wizard Kulgan while
  Tomas is apprenticed to become a soldier. Pug
  displays magical abilities that were hitherto
  considered impossible, but is unable to control
  it. The Baron, Kulgan, and a small force
  including Pug and Tomas set out to see the King
  in order to begin mobilising the armies of the
  Kingdom, as it is apparent that a large force is
  gathering.

• Pug is taken by the enemy, back to their
  homeworld of Kelewan through a rift in the fabric
  of space. Here he begins a voyage of personal
  discovery, developing control over his awesome
  magical ability. The story jumps between
  Midkemia and kelewan following the stories of
  Tomas and Pug as the war progresses.
