Motivations for IPv4 Network Mobility

• Enabling mobility for IPv4 Networks in an IPv4
  Infrastructure
• Registering IPv4 mobile networks with an IPv4
  home agent
• Customers are asking for it
• E.g., public safety, transportation industries
• Need an interoperable implementation

Protocol Overview

• Operation similar to RFC 3963 (Network Mobility
  in IPv6).
• Two new extensions to RRQ/RRP defined
• Used to register IPv4 Mobile Network Prefixes
  with the Home Agent.

• Foreign Agents as specified in RFC3344 must be
  supported with no modifications.
• Moving Network may have fixed nodes, Mobile Nodes
  or Mobile Routers.
