Our Final Examination
  • For we must all appear before the judgment seat
of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed
for his deeds in the body, according to what he
has done, whether good or bad.
  • 2 Corinthians 510

  • Stephanos the crown of victory

8
Our Final Examination
  • crown of exultation (1 Thess 219)
  • crown of life (James 112)
  • crown of righteousness (2 Tim 48)
  • crown of glory (1 Peter 54)

9

10
Our Final Examination
  • The twenty-four elders will fall down before Him
who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who
lives forever and ever, and will cast their
    crowns before the throne
  • Revelation 410

11
Our Final Examination
  • Isnt it selfish to serve God for the hope of
    rewards?

12
Our Final Examination
  • If there lurks in most modern minds the notion
that to desire our own good and earnestly to hope
for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I submit
that this notion has crept in from secular
philosophy and is no part of the Christian
faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing
promises of reward and the staggering nature of
the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would
seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too
    strong, but too weak.

13
Our Final Examination
  • We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about
with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy
is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants
to go on making mud pies in a slum because he
cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a
holiday at the sea. We are far too easily
    pleased.
  • C.S. Lewis

14
Our Final Examination
  • What is of eternal value in your life? What is
    only wood, hay, or straw?
