Adding and Subtracting Radical Expressions

• You can only add/subtract like radicals
• Like radicals have the same index and the same
  radicand
• If you dont have like radicals see if the
  radicals can be simplified to match

Multiplying and Dividing Radical Expressions

• When multiplying two binomials ( )( ) use
  FOIL (or distributive property)
• Notice conjugates have a special pattern
  (things will cancel out)
• To rationalize a denominator that is a binomial
  multiply by the conjugate
