Purpose of Review

• Evaluation of Main Linac Quadrupole Model Magnet
  program by local but independent magnet experts,
  prior to construction and test
• Comment on design approach to
• Assure that magnet meets design specification,
  for field quality, mechanical support and quench
  protection
• Comment on readiness to start construction
• Are their enough resources to complete this task?
• Time permitting, comment on test plans for
  magnet, primarily for VMTF test

Charge for Committee

• Is the basic conceptual design suitable for the
  application?
• Is the mechanical analysis appropriate?
• Is the insulation scheme proposed sufficiently
  robust?
• Will the coil remain supported following cool
  down, during excitation?
• Is the magnetic design reasonable?
• Considering field quality requirements
• Considering field stability requirements
• Is the magnet quench protection sufficient
• During normal operation
• During test operation in VMTF (i.e. extraction
  circuit needed?)
• Are there sufficient resources to build and test
  this magnet in FY07 (need to fix this date)
• Do any of the above preclude proceeding with the
  model coil?
• Is the test program/plan sufficient
• For this first test in VMTF
