8-Hour Ozone Design Value
  • 8-Hour Ozone Design Value for an ozone
monitoring site is the average of the
fourth-highest 8-hour ozone concentration in each
    of three consecutive years
  • Ozone Design Value is the metric used to
determine whether a monitor is attaining the
    8-hour ozone standard
  • Analysis here used the monitoring data for all of
the ozone monitors that satisfied all of the
    Federal Reference Method requirements
  • The number and locations of monitoring sites
varies from year to year due to monitors added,
    deleted, or relocated
  • From 1985 to 2006, monitored ozone levels
    decreased significantly across the
    Houston-Galveston-Brazoria area
  • Some monitors now have an ozone design value that
attains the 8-hour ozone standard (for example,
    downtown Houston)
  • Bayland Park is the only monitor with an ozone
design value gt 100 ppbv considered to be
    primarily impacted by mobile sources
