What is CITEL PCC II?
  • CITEL, the Inter-American Telecommunication
    Commission, works under the Organization of
    American States (OAS) to facilitate and promote
    the development of telecommunications in the
    Americas
  • CITELs Permanent Consultative Committee II (PCC
    II) handles standards issues related to spectrum
    use, spectrum coordination and harmonization, and
    broadcasting issues

CITELs WRC Working Group
  • CITELs WRC Working Group has made significant
    progress on preliminary views (PV) on a number of
    items and is moving towards drafting
    Inter-American Proposals (IAPs) for the WRC-07
  • Reports on the most recent CITEL meetings can be
    found on the FCCs WRC-07 website at
    http//www.fcc.gov/wrc-07 under WAC documents

CITELs WRC WG Timeline
  • The next CITEL PCC II meeting is October 25-28 in
    Costa Rica
  • The deadline for contributions to the CPM Report
    is September 15, 2006 and the deadline for WRC-07
    proposals is July 9, 2007
  • At most, this will mean 3 or 4 meetings before
    July 2007
  • 2 meeting limit rule

CITEL WRC WG
  • Agenda Item 1.4 US, Brazil and Canada have
    provided preliminary views that they support
    ongoing ITU-R studies on spectrum for IMT-2000
    and beyond
  • Agenda Item 1.9 The US, Argentina, Brazil,
    Chile, Guatemala, Honduras, the DR, and Uruguay
    are of the preliminary view that terrestrial
    services in the 2500-2690 MHz band should be
    protected and there is a need to consider
    elimination of the MSS allocation in this band
