Economic Impact
  • The park will bring 1.1 million new visitors to
downtown and will have a positive impact on
    tourists, convention goers, and downtown
    business.
  • The park will leverage the development of The
Banks and it will serve as the front
yard/neighborhood park for its tenants, visitors,
    and home owners.
  • The park will be the setting for major events and
    festivals.
  • The park will contain restaurants, cafes and
concessions to provide food and drink to
visitors, as well as to generate revenue.

12
Operating Costs
  • The first phase of the park is estimated to cost
    600,000 annually to operate.
  • Operating costs will be offset through a mix of
    funding sources, including
  • Revenue from the restaurants and cafes in the
    park
  • Revenue from private rentals/reservations
  • Fees from special events and festivals
  • Concessions
  • Tax support
  • Endowments
  • Park Improvement District

13

million/acre. This cost is equal to or less than
    other comparable waterfront parks, including
  • Louisville Waterfront Park 1.4 M/acre
  • Friendship Park 1.5 M/acre
  • Tall Stacks/Yeatmans 1.8 M/acre
  • Charleston, S.C. 3 M/acre
  • Capital City Landing, Indianapolis 3.55 M/acre

    Army Corps of Engineers
  • Up to 6 million will come from State Funding
  • Up to 10 million will come from Local Funding
  • Between 20 to 30 million will be raised
privately to complete and partially endow the
