New OCTE Academic Consultant Grace Yeh To Help
With Information Technology and Distance Learning
We are pleased to introduce a new OCTE
employee - Academic Consultant Grace Yeh. Grace
will be working with Communication and
Manufacturing Academic Consultant Joe Morgan by
assisting with information technology and
distance learning projects and activities.
She graduated from the National Taiwan University
with a bachelor of arts degree
in foreign languages and literatures, from 1982.
Her graduate work was completed in 1986 by
earning a master of education degree with a major
in instructional technology at the University of
Houston - University Park. Upon graduation,
Grace taught for 10 years in a variety of
positions including middle school, a business
institution, community college, high school,
junior college and at a university. Prior to
accepting this position, she was a management
information system assistant professor at a
private business college. During all my
years of teaching, I worked with students from
different backgrounds and am very familiar with
the classroom environment in computer teaching,
says Grace. In addition, with the ability to
learn computer applications quickly, I am often
thought to be an expert in application software.
With my many years of teaching experiences and
solid knowledge in computer teaching, I hope I
can be of assistance to you in many ways.
Hiring an individual with the computer
programming experience Grace has and matching
what our Kentucky Virtual Area Technology Center
(KVATC) pilot project is trying to do will help
us build a foundation to serve a larger
population of underserved students in the
Commonwealth, says Morgan. In our current
project this semester, we are serving 23 students
who did not have an opportunity to focus on their
chosen IT career. Through our KVATC project, they
can.
