14
Co-Chair Fundraising Model
Individual co-chairs take personal responsibility
for raising a specific portion of your
fundraising goal. Each co-chairs goal must be
attainable and the co-chair must actually commit
to the specific number.
Event Chair (fill in Name) GGA 15,000
Co-Chair (fill in Name) GGA 10,000
Co-Chair (fill in Name) GGA 10,000
Co-Chair (fill in Name) GGA 10,000
Other (Board Fundraising, etc.) 5,000
15
Why You Need Co-Chairs
  • PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • It is a crucial motivating factor for co-chairs
to feel like they essentially owe your
non-profit the money theyve committed to raise
  • CAMPAIGN FOCUS STRATEGY
  • Managing 5-12 individual co-chairs with specific
strategies on how to reach their goals gives
    your campaign some focus
  • POWER OF TITLES
  • Having a title makes a person feel more
committed and hearing that title impresses
    prospects
  • PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • Yup, were repeating this one its really the
    key

16
Why You Cant Do It Without Co-Chairs
  • DIFFUSION OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • A committee approach doesnt require making a
personal commitment, so there is less pressure
to make good and an underlying assumption that
others can make up for any individuals failures
  • LACK OF STRUCTURE
  • Individual fundraisers need individual
strategies and approaching fundraising as a
committee can lead to people all trying to use
    the same strategy
  • INDIGESTIBLE GOAL
  • A 100,000 goal looks awfully big to a committee
tasked with selling tickets it helps to
break it down into smaller chunks for
    individuals

17
Why You Need to Find Co-Chairs NOW
  • CULTIVATION TIME
  • Recruiting can take 2-3 months
  • FIRST IN LINE
  • People often commit to fundraising
    responsibilities a year in advance
  • STRATEGY MOTIVATION
  • You need time to strategize with your co-chairs
    before the fundraising efforts begin
  • START EARLY
  • You want to start marketing to your co-chairs
    prospects in early summer

18
Honorees
  • Do you need one?
  • Event honorees can enhance your reception, and
depending on who it is, people may buy tickets
and attend in order to meet your honoree. But,
    you do not need one.
  • Do you want one?
  • Most honorees require recruiting effort,
logistics coordination, an award, a speaking
opportunity, etc. A lot of time can be spent in
this area so make sure its worth it.
  • How do they fit in?
  • There are differing opinions on the purpose of
honorees. For this event, Youth, I.N.C.
encourages you to have an honoree ONLY if it will
help you with your fundraising in some way.

19
Next Steps
  • Review the binder (yes, the WHOLE thing!)
  • Identify your key leadership people who are
committed to helping with your Celebration
    campaign.
  • Educate your board and committee about the
process and their roles. If you want help
educating them ASK! We would be happy to
come to a meeting with key board
members/committee to help explain the process
  • Sign and return your letter of agreement by
    March 11th
  • Invite key players to March 16th workshop
  • Set up a co-chair brainstorming session with
Ariel, Zoe, Robyn, and Hope to take place no
    later than April 15th
