class every day?
  • Bring all math materials to class math folder,
math spiral, math book, homework folder, and
    pencils.
  • Always have homework assignments completed,
    including being prepared for assigned
    assessments.
  • Keep all math worksheets and assignments in your
math folder do not clean out your math folder.
  • Be ready to listen, think, and learn.

Do I need to do math outside of class time every
day?
  • Yes! Everyone needs to spend at least 10-15
minutes doing math outside of class daily even
    if no homework is assigned.
  • Why? Todays work in math class and any assigned
homework are the building blocks for the work we
    will do in class tomorrow.

4
What should I do outside of class during those
extra 10 - 15 minutes?
  • Review any new and old vocabulary words discussed
    during todays lesson.
  • Review any basic facts you need to practice.
  • Review the notes you wrote in your spiral and
    work completed on your worksheets.
  • Try working a couple of the problems from todays
    lesson.
  • Look at your journal notes taken earlier this
    week.

5
How do I study for a math test?
  • Listen carefully in class, record notes about the
test on your homework assignment sheet, and
organize your math folder as directed.
  • Select problems from your spiral and math folder
to rework. Compare your new answers and work with
    the original problems.
  • Review all notes in your math spiral.
  • Review all unit vocabulary words and their
    definitions.
  • Be sure to take time to study and rework problems
that you have missed on earlier assignments or
    tests.

6
What do I do if I am having trouble understanding
something?
  • First of all, be sure that you have all past work
completed and your spiral is up-to-date.
  • Listen carefully in class to both large and small
    group discussions.
  • Try even if you are not sure. You may be
surprised how much you really do know.
  • Ask for help your square partners, Mrs. C.,
and your parents are good resources when you need
    help.
  • Remember noon recess and study hall are good
times to see Mrs. C. for extra help.
