General Safety Rules
  • All persons on Club property shall act in a safe,
    responsible, and courteous manner.
  • All range-qualified Club members de facto TNT
    Range Safety Officers
  • Observation of a range rule violation is to be
    handled on the spot.
  • Exceptions or non-compliance is to be immediately
    reported to WNT Director

Getting Ready
  • Shotguns must be unloaded when brought onto and
    taken from the Club property
  • Actions of uncased shotguns are to be open at all
    times except when on the firing line
  • Single shot, side by side, and over-under
    shotguns may be closed when placed in a
    stationary gun rack.

  • A loaded shotgun may not be left unattended for
    any reason
  • Any person impaired by drugs or alcohol is not
    allowed on the shotgun range
  • Guests are restricted to Fields 2 through 6.
  • Teams are to check for sufficient number of
    loaded birds.
  • If you need help loading, ask a club staff
    member.

Safety on the Line
  • Load a single shell at a time.
  • Close your action only after the shooter
    immediately preceding you has shot
  • 7 ½ is the largest authorized shot size
  • Firing is permitted only from designated trap
    firing positions
  • Stop and unload IMMEDIATELY upon command from the
    referee or another shooter.

More Safety While Shooting
  • Hearing and eye protection is required inside the
    rope borders.
  • Keep all shotguns pointed downrange at all times.
  • Know where your gun and where the guys gun next
    to you is pointed.

Going Home
  • Open your gun before you walk off the line.
  • Case your gun promptly and place in your car.
  • Pick up your shells
  • Thank the team captain and the referee
  • Return score sheets to Tom Horio or the shotgun
    field house
  • Drive safely home
